I doubt it. I mean what role would he be in, senior advisor? Assistant GM? I just don't see how Torts would be satisfied with that. But if Torts is going to continue to be coach of this team, he has got to change up some things, and control his emotions after losses. - jd250
That would be my guess but who knows. VP of Media Relations? |

You are just a blatant liar and a TROLL! I said Couts was behind the play and looked hurt earlier this season and you bashed me for it, stating he just needed time to get his game back after two years. You NEVER stated he was hurt! I am the one that stated it several times before Briere came out with it. Everyone on this site knows what you are .. a laughing stock that apparently has no life, no job, no kids .. no nothing but this forum. Live with that! - jd250
How many times do I have to prove to you that you don't even know your own statements? You said he was cooked! Cooked is different from banged up.
If you don't like being treated this way, then straighten up. Learn the game and stop giving me so much to work with! All I do is point out the ridiculousness of your uninformed opinions and how you flip flop constantly and fail to learn from those who know more than you do. Which is just about everybody. |

He is 65 years old. He has been an NHL head coach for over 20 years. He is not going to change anything. He is who he is.
Tortorella's mindset is that he is the king and he is in charge. Any attempt to capitulate on his part is simply to try and manipulate to gain leverage and power. |

After the last decade of Flyers hockey, who cares about a post-game interview? He does make some head-scratching decisions but I can't argue with the end the results. He's gotten more out of this group than any other coach in my estimation.
I dunno, he kind of embodies the whole "no one likes us, we don't care" mantra. I like him.

I could be totally wrong but recently, the Torts stuff almost makes me feel like he already has one foot out the door. Is he already trying to get himself ready for a FO job?
Just some of the stuff recently is not sitting right with me. Not saying he doesn't want to win but there just seems to be some stuff that is off - J35Bacher
Not just recently too. Remember him handing the team over to Shaw and Rocky around this time last season? Shaw is gonna get hand-picked for the job when Torts becomes co-GM/co-Pres officially. |

4) Guess what.... like it not... when a coach constantly harps on accountability and professionalism, he needs to consistently model those traits himself. (BTW, if you think figures in the organization do not notice that, too, you're wrong). - bmeltzer

I want a clean break. I don't want him in the FO. I say thank you for what you instilled but now we need to move on.
The longer he stays around I think the more you wonder if Briere is really building this team in his vision or is this Torts vision.
I think they have to make some hard calls this offseason. Do they commit big money and years to TK. Do you look to deal Laughton or maybe you again wait till the TDL next year. Can you move Deslaurier and Ristolianen? They still have lots of work to do to reshape this team for when you want Michkov to come over. |

Ask me at the end of the season when they have played a full 82 games. |

The ole' Torts OT strategy:
"Man I hope the other team doesn't score for 5 minutes." |

Forgive me for not back reading, but is Poehling OK? Any news on what he was dealing with? |

They have 5 ore wins than they did last season, that is an improvement, is it something to write home about, no, but it is an improvement.
They have 3 less OT loses, that is an improvement, is it something to write home about, no, but it is an improvement.
I think they can and should win 8 out their next 9.
I think they lose to the Rangers
They beat the Islanders, if not, get at least a point.
They should beat Washington and the rest.

Have you suffered through the last decade? I have. I can watch the games again. it's nice.
I don't have to be Frank Seravalle to see they're moving in the right direction. 4 1st round picks over the next 2 drafts??? The development the York, Cates, Sanheim, Foerster, Tippett, and Frost (honorable mention Zamula, and Brink)? You can't be that much of a curmudgeon.

It's all 100% Torts' vision.
Everything was established well before Briere and Jonesy got their jobs. |

The question wasn't if they've improved. They obviously have. All of a sudden they're going to morph into a .880 winning percentage team?

I'm looking for more than just being able to watch the games and having it be nice. Are they moving in the right direction? Is Tortorella, Jones and Briere putting this team on the path to cup contention? I'd say emphatically no! Not until they prove it to me. I think especially with Tortorella, it's only going to set them back. Perhaps because I'm an old crusty Flyers fan who to quote an Elton John song. I've seen that movie too.

There's no place for this positivity.. We are doomed unless we tear it all down for a 15 year rebuild which will guarantee success. Stop enjoying watching the games too while you're at it!.. |

Big money TK extension is a done deal. Ground work already being laid.
Laughton is not getting traded.
No market for Deslauriers or Risto.
They will look to add on D. Playoffs is the barometer of success from this season. How do they take the next step? The Flyers don’t take steps backward. |

The current rebuild is 10 years and counting to be generous. Where have they gotten?
