Does being a .500 team and on the playoff bubble satisfy you as a Flyers fan? - MJL
Do you want the Flyers to make the playoffs or miss with a chance at the lottery? |

Exactly what Bill said - Torts has blinders on! - Flyfly
Is it blinders? Or does he really believe this is the best shot to win the game? |

Torts history of OT tells us its blinders. Your opinion may differ and that is fine.

The question wasn't if they've improved. They obviously have. All of a sudden they're going to morph into a .880 winning percentage team? - MJL
I was at a Flyers game where if they won they made the playoffs. They ended up going to the finals. Their wining percentage then is lower than it is now.
I saw a mediocre team beat Tampa when Tampa the best team in the league for years. Tampas great winning percentage meant crap.
Winning percentage to me only matters to me if it good enough to make the playoffs.

TK's play is down for sure, don't know what injury he is fighting, but I do think it is holding his value in check, healthy he might have hit 40 plus goals and 80 plus points |

OT is a reality of the game, hell, look at the Bruins, they are feasting on OT points.

I'd say it's some of both. He thinks that's how you win but he has blinders in terms of how you win in the current modern day NHL.

True, the Flyers were a .500 team in the regular season and went to the finals that year. The difference is the 9/10 team had a much better roster and underachieved in the regular season. The current team has overachieved to get to .500.
Are you referring to the Columbus team that beat TB? If so, they weren't a mediocre team. That team won 50 games and had a 109 point season. What happened after that in that playoff season? What happened in the following years?
It seems to me that you're one of the close your eyes and make a wish type. Hoping the team makes a cinderella unexpected run. Good luck with that.

After years of not making the playoffs and having two first round picks in a thin draft, yes making the playoffs satisfy me…for this season.
After a win, MJL is that guy who has been saying “I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again, the Flyers are making the playoffs” as if it’s some hot take. Some of us have believed since November/December. My point is, this guy wants playoff hockey too but he wants to play both sides when the argument suits him. |

Now I know how MJL feels when he has to put up with idiots like me.
The Flyers winning % this season is not .500, it is .562. When they went on their cup run it was .537. So like I said it was lower then than it is now.
MJL was just rounding it .500 to make a point.

Yeah, I was wondering that myself. He looked injured. That is on both the player and the coach. Especially if He was injured before the OT started.

At the extreme, an NHL team could have a winning % of .500 and win the Presidents Trophy with a Points % of .750 if they went 41-0-41. That's why P% is the only useful metric to compare teams and seasons since they did away with ties.
This Flyers team has the 10th best P% out of 19 since the 2005 lockout. So that's what has the authentics all fired up - being the exact median.
