He shouldn’t have been out there to begin with. If you need a guy to win a draw and get off it’s coots. It’s madness - Hextall271
This is what disturbs me. It's a 4-4 game, under 10 minutes to go in the game in the 3rd period and the FLyers are faced with a defensive zone draw. I have to recheck but I didn't think it was icing. So tell me why the Frost line is out there? That made no sense to me. I am not picking on Frost, but he is not the best on faceoffs and you got your best faceoff guy sitting on the bench. Same with the start of OT. If the goal is to gain possession, how could you not put your best faceoff guy out there?? |

Yeah, but not all to the degree of Torts.
Then there were guys like Roger Neilson who was always willing to try something new. - BiggE
stubborn true, splitting hairs but I do think EGO, describes it better, he just has to be right, even stubborn folks listen to reason in a reasonable time period

I don't know...I would think you would have to ask the coach. I am sure he would be happy to take the time for you and explain why he does what he does. He's great that way....

Fine take both out of the equation and what is the result? - jd250
Take both of what out of the equation? Are you suggesting counting only regulation games? Please clarify. |

This might be a really good thing as he could come over and backup Sam. You’d think he’d be NHL ready. - Hextall271
Bring him over and roll with a Sam/Ivan combo next season. Kolosov in the AHL |

Never played on the smaller rink before, angles are different, flow of the game is different, on-ice communication is different, he'll need time to adjust. |

AFAIK if he plays in the NHL this season he'll be UFA on July 1. |

Yeah. Not sure. I think they allowed the flyers to keep his rights because of the khl not honouring the contract. Wonder if they’ll allow him another year. Understand the adjustment but I’m not sure he’s worse than what we’ve got now . |

I looked this up. The KHL plays on 3 different sized rinks. NHL, Finnish, and international. CSK plays on a Finnish sized rink.
It wont be as hard for him to adjust since he already has to adjust depending on who and where they are playing. |

He is going to need time to learn the smaller rink. Also, the guy is 27 at this point. They should def bring him over and get working w him.

The Flyers this year are well above a mediocre team and anyone who wants to say they are not have not been watching. The Flyers have stood toe-to-toe with some of the best teams in the league and have beaten many of them. And even teams they have not beat, like the Rangers, they have been right there in most of the games. The Flyers are not an elite or top tier team in the league, but they are, at least to me, a 2nd tier team; a team that should be in the playoffs and a team that a top team would not be eager to play. It's been a good hockey season and no one should discount this.
Totally agree with this. If you turn on ESPN or NHL Network, you get the clowns that will talk about some other reason why they are winning games, that has nothing to do with this team, but they feel compelled to say something nice now that we have started to win again. But they still dislike the team, and probably the city (and people) is the reason. But as the Eagles had a shirt printed with "It's a Philly thing", who cares. |

It's a shame it took this long to resolve. He could have come sooner to work on adjustments.
I'm more optimistic about Kolosov now, because he did play in an NHL-like sized rink. To me, the key is he doesn't have to take over the net. He could just take the occasional game Sandstrom is getting now, it can't be much worse. And if he does well, could perhaps use him a little more. But with 9 games left, will be hard to make that sort of evaluation. Best case he could be on the bench in the playoffs. And if Sam gets smoked some night, he could get a chance after playing in practice. I don't see what the big risk is. They are playing with house money no matter what. Any additional experience he gets is gravy, as he will definitely be in the AHL next season.
