What the F is your problem?
This year's problems are the same as last years problems...of course I harp on them.
I have repeatedly said nothing is going to happen of significance, however I state what I think should be done. There are few on here who do, including yourself who continues to throw poop at the wall. We all know nothing will get done...yet the common refrain from the masses is something al9ng the lines of "what would you do, what should they do" and my posts answer those questions.
You should try it sometime. Only pussies don't. - IonSabres

Arizona and Minnesota had double the probability that Nashville had to make the playoffs on December 1st.
That’s why they play the games.
I applaud MoneyPuck for displaying these odds, and they don’t just throw poop at the well to see if it sticks. They do use the underlyings of the respective teams and use strength of schedule amongst other things.
The issue is, when dealing with so many different variables, it’s nearly impossible to accurately predict a sport with endless permutations possible.
Edmonton and Nashville had lower odds than Arizona and Minnesota.
That’s why they play the games. And the Sabres had ample opportunity the past two months to accrue more points as I outlined in my previous post - Swedish_Jesus
Yet they didn't, just like the Probability projected they wouldn't. They continued to achieve the same results that lead them to miss, and didn't have any results required to qualify...l8ke having long winning streaks to dig out of the abyss.
Probabilities have exceptions, it is why no team had zero percent, even the teams in the most dire straights.
It was possible however. It remains possible for the Sabres to win the cup.

Imagine telling someone that SMCI stock was going from $88 to $1,200 in a calendar year.
Imagine telling a St Louis Blues fan they were winning the cup when they fired their coach and hired Craig Berube.
Imagine telling a Panthers fan they were going to the Stanley Cup final in November last year when Papa Tkachuk was laying into them calling them frauds in (frank)ing January.
Statistical improbabilities happen every (frank)ing day of your life.
I don’t need to learn the difference between Possibility vs Probabilities.
You need to learn the difference between Hypothetical vs an Absolute. - Swedish_Jesus

It was a one sided statistical improbability since November. Backed by years of data based on where teams lined up in the standings on American Thanksgiving
They missed the playoffs because they have been a .500 team all season long and did not afford themselves room for the errors you pointed out. The team is flawed big time and unless they go back to outscoring all of their deficiency it is much more than finishing touches needed.
When you posted the other day about all of our prospects I asked you what your plan is to make them a playoff team next year but you didn't answer. Getting younger is not the answer - ieetbred
Idc about the age of the player. Put your best 23 skaters on the ice.
The roster may be young by age, but not by experience.
Savoie and Kulich are going to push hard for a roster spot. Too early to tell what will happen there.
Adams admitted himself he was in the market for a Veteran C at the deadline and will continue to look in the offseason.
There isn’t enough room for everyone, everyone including our front office knows that |

No poop.
I’ve been trying to explain that to you for the last hour of my life.
Nashville and Buffalo were both statistical improbabilities.
One defied the odds, the other didn’t.
Neither teams season was over by the end of November.
Thank you for proving my (frank)ing point. |

Sabres can still win the cup...defy all odds, place that damn bet..$50k down on the possibility and you can buy a castle in Toronto!
I mean really, what is the difference between, 0.01% and 86%? It is still possible! |

I waived the white flag when it was appropriate too.
Don’t be intentionally obtuse.
The Sabres were more than alive up until the last 5 games.

Jack Quinn tears ACL over the summer
Adam's response was to bring back Jost and later on claim Robinson off of waivers
the team was trying to go from tied for 9th in the east to 8th in the east instead of trying to ice a team to compete for a cup
it's as simple as that despite how others try to spin it |

Olofsson still being on the Team
Bringing back your Captain and Assistant Captain that have done nothing other than Breed Losing
Not upgrading your Assistant Coaches when your PP sucked for the last 3 months of last season and Wilford can't Teach your D how to play D. Everyone in the Outside World can see it but Adams. |

Zach Benson received Quinn’s roster spot.
Quinn getting injured a second time was extremely unfortunate. Nobody this year has missed Quinn more than Dylan Cozens.
I completely agree though that they completely whiffed on the bottom of the depth chart.
They felt they had Patty Kane in the bag and he said no.

So the 6 game win streak by Nashville in Nov, or better yet by winning 16 of 18 in Nov Dec over 33 days should be viewed the same has the Sabres not winning two games in a row once over the same span?
I guess they both have in common and therefore are similar by having showed up to games...just one team decided to play while the other skated on the ice.
Ya, I could could see placing a bet at that time 12/21/2023 on Nashville with that string of wins...not a big one though. |

Buffalo was a statistical probability not improbability. You strung two sentences together that directly contradict each other. |

The Coyotes had a 70% chance at the playoffs on December 1st.
They didn’t show anything to suggest they had an upcoming 14 game losing streak ahead of them.
There are way too many variables at play to predict how the final 40+ games of a regular season are going to play out for 32 teams.
Way too much variance in the variables used to predict the odds.
Strength of schedules change, team performances changes, roster moves cannot be foreshadowed.

Correct.
The best odds they had after October was around 36%.
AKA - it was a long shot the whole season past October |

I am supposed to believe the Red Wings had a 73% chance of making the playoffs as of December 1st ?
Anybody watch them play hockey the last few months?
They were outshot 39-23 today despite having a +5 penalty differential.
Complete joke they were even awarded a point today. |
