Ok, so maybe I should have said he needs time to acclimate to the NHL style of play, you know, shooting more, getting traffic in front, etc. Is that a more accurate statement? Do you think Fedotov is actually ready to play an NHL game that means something right now? - jd250
It’s not fair to put him in….he might do better with a bit more practice, getting more acclimated to his equipment is another issue….all that said I roll the dice. Ersson is not making the saves he was making earlier this season …it’s that simple . I’d roll the dice. Of course it’s risky.
I see Torts is rolling with Ersson though again tonight. So we’ll see how it plays out. |

Looking at the remaining schedule for the Flyers and Capitals, I would say tonight's game is as close to a must win game for the Flyers as they will have all season. With the Caps idle tonight, this will be the Caps' third game in hand against the Flyers. If the Flyers lose tonight I don't see them holding on to 3rd place. - jd250
Flyers have already lost 3rd place to Washington. We are now in a battle for the final wildcard spot with Detroit, NYI and Devils |

The Flyers right now are tied for the 3rd spot, they are listed below the Caps because of point percentage only, which I could care less about. Do you want to Troll on minutia or actually discuss hockey? - jd250
They also have games in hand....as by the end of today, they will have 3 games in hand. Even if they win 2 of 3, which has been their current w/l record...6-3-1 in last 10, they will have more points than the Flyers.

But the season isn't over today, and the Caps and Flyers have the same number of points. The Caps are listed in 3rd because they have played two less games that the Flyers, thus they are listed in 3rd because of point percentage. But in reality, the teams are tied for 3rd place because unlike some morons on this forum, the NHL does not decide what place a team is in based on point percentage, but instead based on actual points. This is the last post I will give on this topic. If you all want to argue points versus point percentage .. have at it, I have better things to do. - jd250
Really not trying to beat up on you here but this is wrong. |

Right and if they had played the same number of games, the Caps would be up in real points too. Their current play and record proves it.
So you are wrong again, and now you are going to whine and duck over it. Several people called you out, not just MJL....give it a break. |

So to recap the past few days.
Ersson is NOT a rookie, and the Flyers ARE in 3rd place. - MBFlyerfan
and only regulation wins and losses count. OT and the shootout doesn't count as part of the real points total, as it is fake hockey

I think the Flyers are going to win tonight. This team has shown up against good teams all year, and I don't believe two games makes a freefall. They will reset. - jd250
I will be shocked if they win tonight. I think the only game they actually have a chance in is the CBJ game.
2 wins in their last 9 games, and this isn't a freefall?

They have to right the ship on the PK. That has been a huge factor for them all season. If that continues to falter, going to be difficult. - MJL
They need to start doing a penalty kill, instead of trying to score every time they are shorthanded. The defensive structure has disappeared, and all they are trying to do on the penalty kill is score, and it's catching up to them. |

There’s only one rink in the KHL that’s Olympic size. - landros 2
True. There is 3 sizes..Olympic, NHL and Finnish league size. They have no structure on rink sizes in the KHL.

Forget 3rd place, they will be lucky to hold on to the 2nd WC slot. Losing to the Habs could be written off as a letdown game, but when you go on to be embarrassed at home by one of the dregs of the league, it’s not a letdown anymore.
The Flyers are in freefall and I don’t see them throwing a switch and turning things around. - BiggE
You might be right but they handled themselves well through the “gauntlet”, so this is a slight overreaction, especially if we’re getting healthy on the back end. |

which one is it coach? - hello it's me 2050
Well...he explains it in the first article...the players convince themselves they are tired, and the end result is they feel tired. Has nothing to do with the style of play they play, the 11-7 crap, and over playing 2 older players coming back from major injuries....it's just because they have talked themselves into being tired. He said the same on injuries being worse because they have convinced themselves they are more hurt than they are. |

Surprised by this...Drysdale is back...should he be? I also expected Ginning to be scratched in favour of Johnson or Staal.
Would also rather have Brink in there than ND

Continuing to play Deslauriers is absurd. Could play Brink and have 4 decent lines.

It took him long enough, wonder if Briere got involved. The only thing I would do is swap Atkinson and Farabee and take out Ginning for Attard which allows Zamula to play his natural side. |

Isn't that why we have Hathaway?
Most important game of the year, and a scoring talent is sat in favour of a fighter....
