Oh sure, because Frost single handedly made that play happen right? I'll give him credit for getting to the dirty area to pot in the rebound, but that play was set up by Drysdale and TK. But let's stay on topic. Did Frost look like he had a clue in OT, yes or no? - jd250
Okay, so why not single out Drysdale for getting turned on the Horvat goal?

You’re not wrong, but it’s not a smart strategy for what should be rebuilding team. Under Torts, they will either limp into the final playoff spot, get smoked in round one and pick 17th or they will just miss and pick in the 14-16 range.
Under a smarter coach, one who understands where this team is at, they probably finish with 76-81 points and pick in the 6-9 range. Or perhaps pick in the top 5 as in that situation both Seeler and Laughton are probably dealt.
Which of the above benefits the team more going forward? - BiggE

You have your head so far up Torts colon you just can't see the light. You cry about folks criticizing Torts yet you are constantly singling out players you hate. - Flyfly
I don’t like Torts and all of my comments have been consistent with this. BUT, he has done a fine job this season with the goal of squeezing blood from a stone. If they don’t make the PO though, they should consider canning him. It isn’t in the rebuilds best interest to keep him IMHO. How they have played recently and not making the POs would showing the players have tuned him out and his pedal to the metal is not the right fit for the current NHL/this team. |

It also passes the eye test. He’s driving play when he’s out there with proper linemates. - Hextall271
Frost did not drive anything last night. He was extremely quiet. Obviously the goal at the end but other than that he was non existent |

I have been saying, except for potting some goals TK is a challenge on the ice right now, his pucks choices are going the other way. I think we will find he will need surgery in the off-season but. |

I would actually move Cates with Frost and Tip and put TK with RP and GH, they can cover for the TO's.

Great post. Torts has done some really good things. Personally, I hate his antics and talking out of both sides of his mouth. I really can't imagine the Flyers will send him packing in the next two years. Doesn't mean he can't be criticized...

yes. one bad play doesn't equate to him not having a clue. next ot game I put him out again. for better or worse. take my chances all day every day him over many others.
I bet they rarely practice 3 on 3 if I had to guess. |

I think if he is hurt, that will be 2 straight seasons he stalled around the 30 golal mark due to injury. It is fair to ask his camp to take less based upon TK holding up long term.

Getting the most out of an average at best team means what? What was accomplished. Torts was/is not the correct coach for where the flyers are at.
Would be interested in seeing in Toronto or the oilers for quick short term boost for a couple seasons.
Has to be a reason only the flyers looked into hiring him....

I’m curious… has torts done a fine job this season managing a rebuilding team? Or simply squeezing points out of roster he has?
They claimed season was rebuild. I don’t think he’s coached for rebuild at all.
In that case I think he’s done horrible.
In case of maximizing points from roster he’s done a good job
Which is better or should they be doing? |

Oh, I agree 100%. It isn't getting them anywhere other than picking in the middle of the pack (as usual). Torts is what he is - old school coach that will get blood from a stone and get them to play structured hockey. For some reason the Flyers hitched their wagon to him and made him the face of the franchise.

Ok, he has been playing with the two best wingers on the Flyers roster, so he is playing with real players, right?
In the end, this is not about Frost. Our wrath should be towards the Power play which has sunk the season for the Flyerso - jd250
and for the most part..he has been standing out. His goal last night was him right in front of the net battling for real estate.
Point is, if he plays with offensive players he holds his own and looks like he belongs. |

I have been complimentary of Frost lately. But since Torts mentioned soft and some players don't have a clue about how to play in these pressure games, I have to assume Frost and Farabee are at the top of the list. And honestly from what I saw from them last night, they should be. I have been dying to see Frost out there 3 on 3 and he finally got his chance last night and what did he do? Skated the puck back into his own end zone with no need for a line change, but allowing the Islanders to change, and then gets completely indecisive, gets his pocket picked and the game is over. It was one of the most disappointing outcomes I have experienced in quite a while, for the team and the player. And Frost deserves criticism for it. - jd250
Frost getting his pocket picked, is not what happened.

The amount of time and energy spent hate watching this team by parts of the fan base is really impressive. - psuhockey
You are criticizing magnitude of a reaction. Admittedly, it is over the top. But that happens in sports all the time.
But the (negative) sign of the reaction is surely understandable.

Tell me, did Frost look like he had a clue in the OT last night? - jd250
Tell me..did the pass he fumbled go out ahead of him to recieve ..you know feeding the puck to where he is going to be, not where he is, or did it almost go to his feet and on his backhand. Yes he carried the puck into his own end..it happens every OT, as teams reset and try to setup a play to get up the ice. He fed it to Drysdale who skated it deeper into the Flyers end, before passing it back to Frost. It is no different than taking the puck behind the net to slow down the play and have a breakout get setup.
Frost fumbled a poor pass. Yes, I think a guy of his skill should be able to take that pass, but it was a bad pass. You are making it sound like he skated back in front of the goalie and lost control of the puck or passed it to the other team. He fumbled a bad pass.
