The Flyers haven't been to the 3rd round since the iPhone 4 was considered state of the art. - Feanor
And Torts hasn't made it out of the 3rd-round since Moses wore short pants |

i just think he would push very hard for shaw. so we would see who has more power.
torts loves the loyalty mantra.
Plus berube still being paid by the blues through 2024-25 so maybe he is in no hurry. I also think 100% torts is back unless something really cray or bad happens. - hello it's me 2050 Andy Strickland is good buddies with Berube and he said the other day that he wants to get back into coaching as soon as possible...I.E...next season.

Rupp on Torts again this morning. Mentioned that Torts is absolutely the best coach at getting the most out of his roster, but says it comes at a price. He thinks the Flyers may have hit the Torts wall. Also, rumors circulating that the Wings will fire their coach if they miss the playoffs and that they will go hard after Berube. |

Honestly don't think Chief is anything special. - Tomahawk I totally agree. Other than his intimidating persona, he is nothing special. He walked into a good situation in St. Louis with an underachieving talented team and then Binnington came up from the minors and lit the world on fire. Good for him, but noting special like you said. |

It's not about not understanding how the standings work. Of course if two teams are tied in points and one team has played less games than the other team then the team with less games played is above them. I am not , or was not, EVER arguing that point. All I said is at the END of the season, the only thing that matters is points SINCE each team will have played the same number of games, therefore point percentage is irrelevant. Are you with so far or do I have slow down even more for you?
- jd250
Yes, you did argue that point. Over and over. Ignoring the reality of how the NHL standings are compiled. As usual, you don't even know your own comments.
With OT losses, sure they count in the standings. I NEVER argued they didn't count. All I stated was TO ME, I don't consider them when evaluating whether a team is above .500 or not, because OT and shootouts are NOT REAL hockey. At the time of the posting, the Flyers had 28 regulation wins and 27 regulation losses. That is all I consider. Judging a hockey team on OT and shootout results to me is just stupid. - jd250
Stating that you don't consider them when evaluating whether a team is above .500 is the same as saying they don't count!
What you considered, is fantasy. It's not real. It's acting like a child in make believe land. It's not adult and it's certainly not intelligent. It's not intelligent to say that judging a team the way the entire hockey universe judges a team is stupid. You need to grow up. |

So it took less then 2 seasons for the Flyers to hit the Torts wall? Must be a really good coach.

Posts the Troll. Listen, the first poster on this site that needs to grow up is YOU! There is difference between where a team is in the standings and how a team is judged. This is what you the child do not understand . |

Agreed I would be looking at OHL, AHL, NCAA, and possible a Swedish coach.
Doing the same ole thing with a retread is not a rebuild, you need to search for a coach who can develop players and motivate at the same time which our current staff isn't doing.
I would also make sure i get a PP coach in here worth a damn.
How many times can you roll of crap and expect anything but crap. They have a hard time at zone entries on the PP which is just bad coaching to me, and if they get set up the plays looked rushed almost nervous at times. I would try a different setup of players starting with one player who's only job is to front the goalie, because I think a lot of PP our struggles are because goalies have good looks when we take shoots. |

Only a person with a child like intellect would ignore a significant percentage of games that have been actually played from the equation in evaluating a team. Claiming that they don't count because it's not real hockey.
