Tortorella is burning the boats in an attempt to get the Flyers into the playoffs this year. I don’t know why anyone has a problem with this. He’s using every bullet this year and will have nothing left for next season meaning his tenure is almost up. Everyone should be happy - psuhockey

My guess is he does not play again this year. Looked a lot like Drysdale when he got injured. I have no insider information of course. But Coots not coming back into the game is a bad sign. That dude would play through just about anything. - mickel25
if he was smart he would shut it down rest of year |

Agreed - Torts can just pretend he scratched his captain again.

He’ll have 4 months to recover. Chance to salvage a rough season. |

Boudreau also said Torts knows his team better than he does….and has a better idea of how far he can push them.
This is….this has been Torts for 20 plus years. Nothing he does or says surprises me. - landros 2
That's assuming it's carefully calculated and targeted... but it doesn't really feel calculated and targeted anymore...

I know I kinda of sorta luke-warmly gave Tortorella a pass yesterday for his presser meltdown. After reading so many of your arguments and positions, reviewing the presser again, and reading so many articles, blurbs or interviews on the subject, I change my mind. Yes, a lot of credit goes to the many posters here and I try to maintain an open mind and not get wed to a particular opinion. So on this, I am now on board with that was not a good display nor necessarily the best way to inspire your floundering team. But I can’t help but wonder who exactly was he calling out. True the team played like pure watery poop in the 2nd period and was single-handed saved by the Herculean effort on one Ivan Fedotov. But sometimes that happens and that’s where goalies can sometimes steal
A game or even a series. They gutted it out in the 3rd and played better.
Then I go back to the Courturier benching which I was critical of the coach and his way of handling it. Aside from him apologizing to Sandstrom and publicly announcing it, has he taken any blame or responsibility for any of the misfortune this year? While the players play and deserve most of the credit and blame in any game, the coach does have to be accountable as well. We see players all the time in interviews say “I need to play better” or “yeah that 2b and 3rd goal is like to have back”. Where is the coach saying, “maybe my system needs tweaking” or “had we practiced the PowerPlay more” or “I shouldn’t have expected so much from that guy coming off of a 2year injury and playing over 20 minutes a game the first 2/3 of the season at age 30”.
Shake my head. - mikeyo27
What was your original position on Torts’ presser? I went into reading this post thinking you were another Torts hater but you changed your mind after having an open mind to different views. I don’t see the changing of your mind here at all. |

That's not a boat that needed to be burned publicly. He could've just applied a little heat publicly and burned the boat in the room privately.
It's an indication of the limited tactics and skill he has as a coach. Of the old school and archaic methods he is still stuck on. - MJL
By why care? He won’t be here long term like most of the roster. Unless you think professional athletes are so fragile that they will carry PTSD from the Torts years for the rest of their career. |

Some of his best were his back and forth with Larry Brooks when he was the Rangers coach…. |

Due to the wasted years. Whether it results in the players facing long term issues from it doesn't mean they don't deserve to be treated with respect. Let's apply the "why care" to everything and be consistent. If the coach and most of the roster won't be here long term then why do you care about anything Flyers related right now? Why are you posting about anything currently?

The rest are just stated confusion of why fans who want a rebuild post endlessly about Tortorella who won’t be here when the team is actually good again. He is literally just a side show for the rebuilding years to keep the Flyers in the news. I highly doubt he coach’s one minute of Michkov’s career. There is much more going on with this franchise than Tortorella but you can’t read 5 posts without seeing his name. |

So TSN is talking a lot about Torts...lots of negative feedback. Boudreau tears a strip off of his approach.
Watch all 4 videos...he is crashing hard...lol. Sooner than I thought.

Then I shouldn't expect to see any posts from you about the current team. Since you don't care? It's current events that rule the day, correct? The team is in a hunt for a playoff spot and he is the current coach. There is plenty in the media about his recent comments made with the teams swoon and somehow you're confused about why posters are currently discussing Tortorella? I also think you misunderstand the influence he has and could potentially have in the future. It's a real possibility that Tortorella moves into an upper management position once he is done coaching here. I personally think that will be detrimental to the Flyers future success.
