No, he's not right and your just being a puppet to everything he says. Effort wise, how did they play in the big games against the big 7? Did it look like they didn't have the balls? All season long this team has played it's balls off for this coach and now he's saying they don't have any? Bullpoop. They're out of gas. Konecny doesn't look close to the player he has been all season. He's ran them into the ground and they're on fumes and hanging on. The coach is an ass.
I'm not sure who you would have given the minutes to, had you been the coach of this team. We had 2 players come back from missing a season, 1 had missed nearly 2 years (but has 7 years left on deal). Torts gave minutes to young players to develop, and put stress on players like TK, because eventually they'll have to decide on whether to resign some of these players. Some have reacted well to the extra ice time, and some haven't. Is that the coach's fault? Torts didn't sign all these players, he's just trying to get as much out of them as possible and get some wins to help develop the younger players. They are also trying to find out who can play at this time of the year. Are we not finding out? May not be the answer we want, but we're getting it.
This team has had this problem for several years now, dating back before Torts. They get to a point energy wise, and then they fall off a cliff. I don't see how how this is the coach's fault. He has cancelled practices and given players maintenance days. Still, somebody has to play the minutes and still we see energy issues.
I look at it differently. We wouldn't know if these players can handle playing in these situations if they weren't competing for a playoff spot at all. And they need to find out who the keepers are.

Ersson is showing when the games mean more he is not able to execute. He may end up being a good backup goalie in this league and that is about it. But he is still young so he has time. I was shocked to see Fedotov last night. He played OK for sure, but I think people are getting a little ahead of themselves. I saw some plays last night where he was off his angle and out of position and if not for a block or deflection the Islanders would have score more goals. So we really need to be careful here and let this guy get acclimated to the NHL, get some practices under his belt and get him working with Dillabaugh more. He is big and looks like he can handle the puck well, so he can be a goalie in this league, but like everything else, he needs time and I concerned putting the team on his back right now is not the right thing to do. - jd250
More fantasy from you. Using your child imagination to invent something that didn't happen. Reality is that Fedotov was really good and you were wrong about him not being close to being ready to play. As usual.

Fedotov was very good. He was very poised and was anticipating plays really well. Barzal had to ask himself where the net went on that breakaway.
That second period was awful. Hopefully three days off recharges this team. Ersson is a lot better statistically with 2+ days rest. He should start Friday. Fedotov on Saturday. Ersson against the Habs and Fedotov against the Rangers. Ersson could play the last two if needed. Ersson is clearly gassed.
Big goal from Frost. OT was unfortunate. He probably will not get another chance for awhile. I think Coots is done for the year. So even less depth at center. Is RyJo done for the year?

I think the whole league knew what was going on long before that. No one was going to trade for him. It also explained, at least to me, why they took 2 goalies in the last draft and were so focused on Fedotov earlier. It also speaks to Harts mental issues. Im sure the stress of what he must have known was coming took an effect.
Sure the general public was (rightfully) in the dark, but you can be sure that the NHL was well aware of what was going to happen. - MBFlyerfan
this is where danny messed up not having a plan to help Sam. it was clear cal/felix were not gonna cut it before hart was exiled.
also dont think the drafting of 2 goalies had much to do with the hart situation. tp me anyway |

You're not paying attention and most of all are uninformed. They've had to play at a playoff level intensity all season just to compete. Myself and others have posted about the danger of this for a while. I stopped reading when I got to the professional athlete nonsense. What you should be tired of is not having the first clue. About anything. Fedorov sure looked no where near ready to play last night. LOL - MJL

No.
The problem is the WAY he has them playing is not a way that can last. His over reliance on role players to play big minutes. His inability to limit certain minutes on players early one so they are fresher at the end of the season.
The way this team was winning was outworking teams. That is not sustainable for a full season.
His PP has been terrible all year. Why was there no change, say in the middle of the season. Fire the guy or get someone who can maybe bring a different idea.
It is not all on Torts but he also can't be the all winning god coach when they win and then escape the backlash for his choices when they lose. A lot of the people I see would rather keep torts as the coach moving forward which I think will hurt this team's rebuild. - J35Bacher
The PP has been an embarrassment all season, I'll give you that. Rocky handles the PP and the forwards and though I like him, he should take the fall for this. I still believe most of the blame is on the players for the bad PP. I also do believe Torts has relied on the veterans too much because he wants to win games over watching rookies make the same mistakes again and again. Playing York 28 or 29 minutes recently, or playing Sanheim 27 minutes a game earlier in the season were not smart moves. Part of rebuilding is dealing with losses because of young players making mistakes. So I don't believe Torts is completely absolved here by any means.
I did see some players playing hard last night, but I also saw some that looked to me like they were just going through the motions. I just think as the games have become more pressure packed, some players are not handling it well. |

The guy didn't even have a practice with the team yet. Torts even admitted that he put Fedotov in a very hard situation last night. It was clearly an act of desperation given Ersson was once again off. Fedotov made some nice saves and was also lucky on a few of them. You just wouldn't know it because the closest you have come to ice are the cubes in your freezer. |

You only think that because Tortorella said it last night after the game. Your new nickname should be Parakeet.
The Flyers played very well during the tough stretch of 7 games against top teams in the league. The pressure was the same.
It is simply Tortorella talking out of his ass because he knows nothing else and has a napoleon complex. |

The plan is to draft elite talent in the 17+ range and wheel and deal for the rest.
It is a low percentage play but that’s all they know. The Flyers wouldn’t know probabilities if it smacked them upside the face. |

Teams are taking away the stretch pass. The Flyers cannot string together 2-3 passes consistently to exit the D zone and enter the O zone. That's a good portion of the issue. They forced the stretch last night and the Isles took advantage of it.

Be positive.
A team without a superstar since Claude Giroux, or a #1 defenseman since Kimmo/Pronger- is going to find them picking in the middle of the first round for the foreseeable future.
I’m just happy all those alumni scumbags have managed to retain FO jobs, and an ability to walk in anytime to ensure their continued influence. As long as the Flyers stay true to their history, all is well.

This team does not have the talent and elite skill to play any other way. The job of a hockey coach is to get the team to compete, and Torts has done that. The fact is you don't have a clue about anything related to this sport. Just state it, you wanted the Flyers to tank this season, to lose as much as possible so you can diddle yourself over the Flyers being just like the Buffalo Sabres. No thanks! Take your fantasy life elsewhere. |

The best plan would be to trade Konecny. I would see if I can get Buffalo or Ottawa to bite and get one of those top 12 picks this year. With that package then you have a better chance of maybe getting someone who will build with along with the other picks and possible prospects you can acquire.
If you can get into the top 10 then I have seen Eisermann dropping in drafts. Maybe you could get Cayden lindstrum or you get one of the top defenders like Richardinson.
But I think the better plan is to move Konecny over resiging him to a big long term deal

Let me get finished upchucking....ahh... now let me spread that around.
After a massive internal investigation, I have found feelings that will dictate what is spewed herein.
The worst move in this soon to be censored season, getting rid of Walker.
Since he has departed, just peruse the record.
It may be a temporary slash on our collective noses, that just distracted the team. When the draft results emerge, maybe we were clever, but that's then. The Now is full of stupid.
My favorite player for some time has been Coots. I know his weaknesses, which are few, but his lack of speed is becoming more apparent. He thinks the game better than most. It makes him effective even though he also is not quick.
I really hate seeing him in decline but one must be objective, mustn't one?
Questioning Torts deployment strategies, oh yeah.
I can't tell if he is developing the team or just driving them across a talentless(er) desert while pursued by the savages (NHL).
He confuses me and not always in a good way.
It looks as if he is not comfortable at the dinner table he set, while not accepting some dishes are overcooked or raw, by his own hand.
Sure, I have ideas that would reformat the team into a WWE mold, lots more fights for entertainment for one. But I not expert enough or knowledgeable enough to assert that Torts is doing a bad job as he irritates in his way.
That goes for a great job too.
What I do know is that I desire (Ask Lucifer. I told him.) a G-D championship before I die.
Is that too much to ask?

Tampa. Colorado.
Chicago. Pittsburgh. Washington. Toronto, and Edmonton are in truly terrible shape having to witness the careers of guys like McDavid or Matthews.
This poophole franchise would be worth a damn if they dared to admit their perpetual retool philosophies are a primary fault for continued failure.
I heard Wayne Simmonds got to sign for a day to retire as a Flyer though.
Thank goodness. |

I actually have no problem with it. Clarke is well known in Russia, he is (in)famous and easily recognizable even by a guy like Fedotov. Trotting out a legend like that was a nice gesture by the organization. Clarke was probably on a plane back to Florida not long after.

Whoever it was, he was just trying to piss them off. That is Torts only bullet, which he uses over and over again. He thrives on conflict and negativity. Being mad can be useful, but it can also be a detriment if it goes on for too long. It becomes all consuming. It drains you empty way quicker than you realize.
IMO Torts decided to make this room mad unnecessarily with more than a few of his recent moves. It may focus you in the short term, but when it is constant it destroys you.
