Keep in mind Gryz is basically bottom 6 D so he's getting more sheltered shifts than the other D.

And he's not physical at all - very few hits for a D man and that does not bode well for the playoffs.

He played on the top defensive pairing with Charlie McAvoy and they gave up two goals in March.

he has 2 goals, for an "offensive" defensman thats not good, and in games they've lost, he's a -7, so when they do lose games, he's out there for goals against. that and he's a proven liability in the playoffs.

Of course there needs to be in game adjustments as needed.

That's not the issue. He changes the starting lineups constantly from game to game.

Wasn't Julien coaching Bruins when they won a Cup?

- Nasty_Duck

They won that cup despite Julien and Chiarelli's bungling. They both on the chopping block after 2010. Don't revise history to make a weak point strawman.

See, everyone labels him an “offensive” defenseman because he was supposed to replace Krug. So again, narratives. When in reality he is exceptional in his own end and is primarily a puck mover.

I don’t know where one would find “in losses” stats but I’m assuming most players would be negative if you’re only looking at losses.

How are his playoff stats since we are on the subject of gryz? Doesn't seem like he had the trust of either Monty or Cassidy when it counts. That should say something.

Let's keep rolling him on the top line he had a good month of March, so give him a 5 year extension and continue the mediocrity. Makes total sense.

There are better options. Gryz can go and the team won't even notice the difference.

So you are saying all of our D are bottom dwellers? (pretty sure I know what you meant to say...bottom pairing?)

1. The Bruins aren't mediocre.

Gryz did have a poop series against the Islanders a few years back but he was also playing through injury. I've also said it before, Gryz is at his worse when he is being plugged in and out of the lineup. I guess that is a weakness, same with durability.

At the end of the day, if your opinion on a player is negative, your going to focus on negative plays. I do it with JVR and Shattenkirk but i will continue to defend Gryz's ability to defend. Massively underrated. I want him in the playoff line up and playing real minutes. The less he plays the greater the burden is on Lindholm and he has been off.

The topic was "Gryz has been awful". He hasn't. He has been very good.

Bottom 6 D is the new Top 6 D.
