I’m not worried about Tippet, York, Forester or Drysdale.
Cates, Poehling, Hathaway and Seeler are not what’s wrong with the team.
I could see Frost sticking around because we need centers and he seems to get along with Tippett on the ice
I’d love to move on from Coots, Laughton, TK, Atkinson, Risto, Sanheim and kick tires on Farabee. This last group, both on the ice and on paper, are what’s hurting this team IMO. Just a bad mix. A far too common issue with this team. Our “good” players just aren’t that good. - anti-lame
Hayes/JvR vs Couturier/Atkinson
I would argue Hayes and JvR were held back in their roles. JvR is useless if he’s not first unit net front on any PP. Hayes wanted to be a center and it showed. We didn’t depend on these players. So we moved on them as quickly as possible and rolled in the collective corpses of Sean Couturier and Cam Atkinson in wheelchairs and gave them major roles. Now were their roles apart of the success or was it the play of the team around them, maturing from last season to now? |

Yeah we need to rip the bandaid off before the season starts. We for sure will know what we have in the other players if they get a full season of only them carrying the load. My worry is they will hold onto TK in order to go all in on this “Coots-Tk-Sanheim” era when I think forcing that group as the core is likely going to fail. - anti-lame
The problem is that those guys are fine but you still need a #1 & 2 dman in that scenario. As well as a top center and maybe a second line center depending on how Frost develops or if he is moved.
I would trade Sanheim even though I don’t have anything against him. |

Despite evidence, the Flyers org is still laying the groundwork to sign a pretty good player to another 8 year deal, while currently having no elite players.
Don’t expect a change in direction this summer.
Btw their fate isn’t sealed yet. |

Just watched Ghost on Nasty Knuckles. Even Ghost admits he’s not very good in his own end. Who in here has had the absolute audacity to say Ghost was good defensively and fight this to the death for years? We all know the answer to this but if Ghost can own this, maybe this character should too. |

IT'S OVER! Even the manic depressive BuZztron has flyers solid planted in nomansland now. 🙃 |

He’s totally fine when slotted correctly. Unfortunately he’s our #1 dman and locked up accordingly 😆 |

I gotta agree with you on Farabee
To be honest Ive hardly noticed him on the ice the majority of the season and Ive not been a Laughton fan for a very long time - probably one of the minority here on the board in regards to him. - jackfrost
Farabee has a strong first half of the season. Was one of the top scoring LW's in the NHL in the first half. Especially at EV. Maybe you just weren't watching? Had sunglasses on? Unfortunately he has been in a massive two month slump that has hurt the team. Still a good player but with the Flyers excess in talented young players. He's obviously expendable. |

This team with this PP team was going to get mauled worse than an Easter Ham in the mouths of hungry mutts if they somehow sneak into the playoffs with this roster. I absolutely expect changes next season and Ive said on here before that the playoffs would be a bonus but some of these guys in my opinion didnt play to their hopeful potential down the stretch and I dont accept "being gassed" as an excuse. The team that hoists the cup at the end of the season has "gassed" players too along with many playing through injuries.
- jackfrost
Were those other teams playing at an elevated playoff intensity for the entire season like the Flyers were? Just to be able to compete. |

I keep reading here that Farabee is a top line winger? |

I know there is a popular opinion that the experience line is a cliche or oversold but I disagree with that notion - at some point in time these players need to be pushed and learn what THEY need to do to be a better player in the league
Thanks for the reply! - jackfrost
The Flyers have you as a fan right where they want you. If we just build the culture and standard. If they just push more. Find out what it takes to play at this time of year. Grow some balls. Get the experience. Learn what THEY need to do. Blah, blah, blah.

Everyone knows the pros and cons of ghost. The issue is av hated him and fletcher gave away assets to get rid of him only to turn around and use more assets to acquire a similar player with questionable character traits. You shelter a player like ghost and use him to your advantage.
The flyers screwed the pooch on him as a player |

I don't think I agree with part of this. Sanheim's cap hit is that of a good top 3/4 guy. He has the 41st highest cap hit among defencemen.
true #1 D are making 9-10 aav and above.
Now if you want to talk about the TERM, then yeah, that is an issue.

well with 2 locked up are they going to go 3 for 3 and have the trifecta continue to fail for 6-8 more seasons? I want no part of watching that group slowly crumble for that long. but we just may get it.

Stop with your pragmatism haha
I never bought into the JA T winning talk, consideration sure. The factors that have lead to the positive attributes to the season are also the same that have led to the freefall. JORTS methodology hasnt changed and his response was to double down. Add in his lack of accountability and his persona, in general, he deserves to be lambasted. - THE BLACK HAND
Agreed. Tortorella winning the Jack Adams was never a reality. The sheep just fell in line and bought the hype. I had Tortorella pegged from day one.

I guess you CAN fall in love with a player huh Torts?
At least this summer all teams will be looking to make deals. You take offers on Farabee, Laughton, Frost, Konecny, Hathaway, Poehling etc.
The reality of it though, Is will GMDB do it? I am not confident.
They will probably finish out of the playoffs and picking in the teens. My worst nightmare when the season started.
The engine seized from being redlined all season. And instead of shopping for the top of the line Mopar parts to rebuild the engine, they will be picking from the U Pull-It out in the woods.
Sorry for the poopty analogy. - MBFlyerfan
It's not poopty. It's a spot on analogy that describes this dysfunctional organization perfectly.

yeah the term is what bothers me and what I mean by "locked up" and I have to look at his face for that many years
i don't think he should match up against any teams top lines but it is what it is and here we are

to also say it was a reality is wrong. he was right there at one point. to deny it is not keeping up with the facts you say you deal in. |

A Hedman or Makar isn't just gonna fall into their laps. Can't be drafting where they're gonna end up drafting and have much of chance of addressing any of their most glaring needs.

True because Hextall was given control for 5 years. When asked to move forward Hextall said he need 7 years. No owner is signing up for that. But the reason it was a complete disaster was because Hextall stunk at drafting and the team is still feeling the ramifications of that today.
https://www.hockeydb.com/...aft/teams/dr00007439.html
Look at all the wasted picks between 2014-2018. That kills a franchise. Fletcher continued to hurt the team with bad free agents and trades but the life blood of any professional sport is amateur drafting. If Briere can’t get that right either he will be fired in 5 years. - psuhockey
No owner is signing up for that. What exactly have they been signed up for since 2010? LOL. Saying Hextall stunk at drafting is hyperbole.
