Why are you fine with am overpaid at $3M per bottom pairing defender in Clifton.

Do you think it's good to pay the bottom pair north of $7M annually?

I have just liked how he turned his game around somewhat. He's hitting again and actually giving good outlet passes instead of blind giveaways.

And 7M for a bottom pairing is a lot, but not that bad. Most teams I see are between 5-6M if they aren't icing a rookie in one of those spots. With the amount of ELCs we have coming, I'm not too worried about paying 1-2M more for a bottom pairing...if it works. The key will be getting it to work. You'd hope Sammy/Clifton can be a decent shutdown pairing next year. IF we can rely on them for d-zone starts, taking pressure off of our young top4, it's a good investment.

IMO $7.6m for 3rd Pairing is crazy to spend assuming Sammy is the other 3rd Pair partner, especially when the team will be entering the Cap world in another season.

RyJo can do as much if not better than Cliffy.. except hit as much or fight.... Not his game. That saves, $2.4m there. Moving Samuelson's $4.3m and replacing with a solid Vet for under $2m would be better. That's another $2.3m ... Total $4.7m which is a sizeable down payment on a Top 4 Dman they truly need.
None of that will happen though... Except RYJo pair d with Cliffy and Sammy will be the Top 4 partner for Dahlin or Power.
