WIVB mentioned Rod Brind'Amour as a long shot. Man that would be sweet. - Buffalo--Sabres
Sabres will have to offer, and Rod will have to chase the money.

I get the sense that this search will be over by the weekend. I don't think they're waiting around for rod |

Oh, Adams is getting Rod. It's just a lot older and the name starts with T not a R |

It sounded that way. There's not a big pool of unemployed, reasonably successful head coaches. Think it would be wise to wait on Mike Sullivan and Rod BrindAmor. There's no reason to rush it. What's another couple weeks?

"Adams said he wants to move quickly while adding, “We’re not going to ever rush into anything, there’s no artificial timeline but what I can tell you is I have a plan and if the plan moves quickly, even better. I think that’s important. But we wouldn’t do something that we don’t think makes sense just to do it fast.”

You're probably waiting until July 1 to potentially land Rod (at least officially) between now and then, 5-6 teams are looking for a coach and taking other choices off the market |

Does hiring Quenneville incentivize Kane to sign in Buffalo next season?
Or is Kane, who would've been 4th on the Sabres in points this season after only playing half a season still considered broken and useless? - washedup20
Quennville loves his vets, so he would be a good reason to have him.
Now that Kane has proven his high level utility, his contract value will follow.
Hell, bring him in as 1RW and push Tuck and Quinn down. I'm in.
Then go sign Stamkos in FA.
Lastly, Package the 24-1st, retain 40%, throw in a prospect and move on from Skinner's $9m
THAT is how a good org would do it.
Peterka - Tage - Kane
Benson - Cozens - Tuch
Kulich - Stammer - Quinn
Greenway - Krebs - Rosen
??
Byram - Dahlin
Power - Samuelsson
Johnson - Cliffy
Bryson
UPL - Levi |

No. I really think they already have a guy lined up. I could be wrong of course. Adams was very, very adamant about the NHL experience thing |

We're fighting with Ottawa. No idea what they're looking for. Potentially Pittsburgh too.
Then there's teams with interims. I think the supply outweighs the demand. Not all of these teams have the same vision in mind as far as needing or wanting a retread.

I would have to say knowing the qualities you want vs knowing who you're hiring is probably only loosely related.
I think you know up front, yeah ok Lindy, Gallant, McLellan, here's guys who holds standards. So I think he knows his pool. But I don't think he's ready to hit the hire button right now.

"At the end of the day, Seth was right there in our faces and he wants to be here. We think he is the right guy for this group of hockey players and we did not want to let him go and win a stanley cup for a different franchise, we want him to win one here."

we got scotty bowman from the habs so I find it hard to believe that this ownership with only 32 jobs in the nhl for gms and coaches, can't do better than adams, krueger, donnie meathead, ron rolston, ted nolan, etc
I mean we h ad matt ellis run our pp
but money is no issue with the sabres - homiedclown
There are people who want it... The problem is those are the dregs who wouldn't be considered elsewhere.. most recently both of Granato and Krueger.
They had extensive search when they hir d Krueger, and they spoke with several before announcing Granato.
Experienced, good candidates would rather hold out for another organization because they will have other opportunities.
I think we see that again. |

I disagree. The roster was a tire fire. What we have now vs then, I guarantee they don't have an issue finding what Kevyn stated he wanted.
I'm telling you, he's a lot of things, but he's not a hypocrite. He painstakingly follows through, even when it takes years.

I think we as fans are, and maybe deservedly so, much more jaded and cynical than a prospective coach.
It's like hiring an employee. For a professional career, you're hiring a guy with little to no experience for an entry level (young/inexperience roster) position. As that employee gains experience, their expectation will be to raise the standard of pay (talented/experienced roster).
Experienced coaches have no reason to not want this job. Supposedly terry provides any funding necessary as requested by the GM. The GM is very easy to work with and staff go out of their way to say as much. Everyone values everyone's opinions. - TheSabresTaco
Disagree, but that is ok.
We'll see.
If players don't want to come here to earn $m's to loaf off... My goodness, experienced coaches look at the org and rightfully say.. joke of an org.. ECHL level. |
