Is that what the ref said or what the Flyers broadcast said?
Because the official boxscore reads:
Garnet Hathaway Unsportsmanlike conduct against Jonathan Quick |

Understand, but the odds of success have to be higher at 2nd overall. I get the O"Brien pick being a miss, but that was at least around 20 overall. No doubt they need more talent and it won't be attained thru free agency this summer. I expect trades. - Trox88
I've racked my brain going through other teams making a list of players that would fit what the Flyers need (24 and under, high chance of elite production).
1) There's really not as many as some may think
2) Most are unattainable, even with a massive package and overpaying
3) The ones that may be available still have a high chance of not developing under the Flyers
The best target I could find is probably Zegras. He has a lot of skill, but I'm not sold he is more than just a 60 point player with maybe a career year in him. Then factor is the assets the Flyers would have to give and of course he would be absolute perfect for the Flyers because he falls in the category of "Injuries and concerns".

Let me guess, JJ was incensed about the call?
(I'm watching the Rangers feed to avoid JJ lol)

I do believe it is more likely Briere tries to trade for an underachieving 1st rdr like Tippett from FLA. Zegras fits that description, but his cap hit might scare off teams- frankly he has been awful this season. Josh Norris from OTT- even bigger cap hit, not good this season and coming off shoulder surgery- another example. Others have mentioned maybe the Jets might shake things up with Perfetti a possibiity.

Sam Rosen is such a great play by play broadcaster for decades.

Yes indeed! They are more relaxed now that the games don't matter.

in regards to your previous post... ray whitney is a good example. as for crosby, fair example but he was fairly established at that point. I'm looking for more specifics like a 1-2 year player that had a grueling injury they were able to overcome. If we have a list of guys that applies to that would be encouraging. I'm more worried about him being another Nolan Patrick

You gave some great examples of good players many teams would like, but not even close what the Flyers NEED. Flyers would be better off stripping off their depth of younger players and building a solid top 3 or 6.
Looking at just the forward group:
[?]-Frost-Tippett
Farabee-[?]-Foerster
[?]-[?]-Brink
[?]-[?]-[?]
Prospects
Michkov
Tuomaala
Desnoyers
Barkey
That's not a bad base, but add just one star/superstar that is consistent year after year and the dynamic changes drastically. If you add more of the same or pay a lot for a player that is inconsistent nothing changes.
I still think the Flyers are in a decent position with 4 1st rounders in the next 2 years and multiple 2nd rounders, but they have no choice and have to hit a gem somehow, someway.

Desnoyers fell off the cliff this season and I would love to know why.

A franchise cannot miss on #2 overall pick, they did. It set the franchise back, no doubt. - Trox88
False narrative. They won lottery that year. Jumped from 13-2. Not like they were horrible at time |

Lindros blew his knee out early on. He was still an ok NHLer.

I just listed prospects I felt could spend time in the NHL and more than just a yearly call up, other than Michkov I see the others as bottom 6 players.
I'm just worried the Flyers are going to be a stuck team like Montreal. Sure Suzuki, Caulifield and Slav could be good players, but if that is your cornerstone line for the future...you're in big trouble.
