You gave some great examples of good players many teams would like, but not even close what the Flyers NEED. Flyers would be better off stripping off their depth of younger players and building a solid top 3 or 6.
Looking at just the forward group:
- Glak18[?]-Frost-Tippett
Farabee-[?]-Foerster
[?]-[?]-Brink
[?]-[?]-[?]
Prospects
Michkov
Tuomaala
Desnoyers
Barkey
That's not a bad base, but add just one star/superstar that is consistent year after year and the dynamic changes drastically. If you add more of the same or pay a lot for a player that is inconsistent nothing changes.
I still think the Flyers are in a decent position with 4 1st rounders in the next 2 years and multiple 2nd rounders, but they have no choice and have to hit a gem somehow, someway.
Poehling is fine as a 4th line center. He'll be 27 when his extension over. For better or worse, Coots will be the 3rd line center- contract cannot be moved. You are correct another skilled winger and center is needed besides just adding Michkov.

The (frank)in Penguins are a bunch of phonies too. They’ve had the Wings by the balls this entire game and they’ve let them right back in. Five minutes away from a 3 point game.
I admit we’re not getting in but as a fan, I’m going down with the ship. |

False narrative. They won lottery that year. Jumped from 13-2. Not like they were horrible at time - Stayin alive
I disagree, it does not matter how a team gets 2nd overall, the pick cannot turn into.a bust. On a basic level, they still were not a playoff team, the team was definitely not stacked. |

I didn't bother adding Poehling, Cates or Coots. Just the youth base.
I know just about everyone has said it already, but TK, Laughton, Atkinson, Hathaway, Johansen and Deslauriers need to be gone (whether it's offseason or during the season). There is no reason to have these players on the team beyond next season. Again just talking forwards. |

These 4 1st rdrs over the next 2 yrs are huge. They have to hit on at least 3 out of 4, which is a tall task. |

Flyers not dead yet! - StepfordSam
Yes, they are. Even if they win all games they have no chance. Math just hasn't caught up with reality yet.

Lindros blew his knee out early on. He was still an ok NHLer. - TheFreak
yeah, not bad. i'm still thinking of anyone that was immediately discarded due to injuries that proved it wrong. just trying to find comparable players.

Written off with injuries, but proved them wrong, hmmm....
Sounds like a Bill question where you have to dig deep going back to the 70's just to find that unicorn exception.

I just listed prospects I felt could spend time in the NHL and more than just a yearly call up, other than Michkov I see the others as bottom 6 players.
I'm just worried the Flyers are going to be a stuck team like Montreal. Sure Suzuki, Caulifield and Slav could be good players, but if that is your cornerstone line for the future...you're in big trouble. - Glak18
Slafkovsky is going to be a hell of a player in my opinion. He just turned 20

I hope Detroit makes it. I don't want to see the Penguins or Capitals in the playoffs. |

Typically it's now a 3 point game 🤮 |

Gotta love JJ talking to Cates regarding the team...."one of your best efforts of the season." The whole team = "players of the game!" Nice! I guess they aren't as worn out as we thought. |

Very possible, but I'd rather see him do it ALL of next year too and continue. I never get impressed with players that go on stretches, superstars hit that bump, jump over it and never look back.

MJL, you're like the sticker in a bathroom at a dive bar. we all see you and you can't be ignored. we just have to accept you. and if i like the bar, i have to direct my urine accordingly.
that's actually a compliment

They need help to get in - THE EVIL WITHIN
I think even if the other teams have a skid, the Flyers would need at least 91 points to get in and they just don't have the games to get it.
