Can’t wait to pick 15. - Just5
Most years, there really isn't much difference between picking, say, 12th or 15th. Who are the best Flyers draft picks of the last 26 years?
I'd say, arranged chronologically, Simon Gagne (22nd overall in 1998), Justin Williams (28th overall in 2000), Jeff Carter (11th overall in 2003), Mike Richards (24th overall in 2003), Claude Giroux (22nd overall in 2006), Sean Couturier (8th overall in 2011), Ivan Provorov (7th overall in 2016), Travis Konecny (24th overall in 2016).
It's all over the map. Boston's best three draftees of the last 21 years were a late second-round pick (Bergeron), a third-round pick (Marchand) and a late first-rounder (Pastrnak).
The Draft takes no small amount of good luck. This year's Draft isn't a deep one heading in but there really isn't much more chance of a superstar at 11th than there is at 15th. |

Thanks for the reply Bill on draft position. You can’t accept losing. It is contagious. TK elevating his game here. Hopefully it helps with the impending trade. |

It was on purpose.
I've never seen anybody "falling" swing their leg around so slowly. Looked like ballet. |

When his sweater got hooked it threw him off balance. At least that is the way I saw it.
You can see the defender got his stick under Hathaways right arm and hooked him off balance. |

Anybody else I'd give the benefit of the doubt.
But it was Hathaway. |

I notice that cutter is dominating the frozen four while drysdale dropped a -6 the other night. Great golf round but not a great game.
Man that trade is going to kill in like 2 years. Ffs. We completely blew that one. |

Yeah, in a game that the Flyers must win he decided to kick the goalie in the head.

I swear we go through this every damn year....yes there is a difference and it's called the lottery. This must be a record, 10 straight years of no deep draft everyone is the same 2 through 438? The difference between 11 and 15 is the fact the Flyers at least have a chance of moving up where 15 they don't. Plus every year the Flyers somehow end up finishing just outside the range of players in a tiny higher tier due to that extra win or 2 they get for no reason or because someone jumps over them due to the lottery pushing others back.
I still believe since the draft is 100% luck based the team should let the fans make the picks, can they really do any worse than what these dippoops they pay to scout do?

College Hockey is not NHL hockey. He is playing with top talent line mates in College, will he be doing the same with the Ducks. Lets wait until he plays a decent sample size in the NHL until we judge.
But I do agree about Drysdale, not looking too good. But the second round pick is a good asset.

Call me crazy but with the general ebb and flow of pro sports, and a favorable schedule to boot, I see the Flyers squeaking in here.
Not only that, they go on a heater. |

They are lucky they got what they did. The league knew he wasn’t going to sign with the Flyers and Gauthier gave them a list of who he would sign with. Not a ton of leverage for the Flyers there. |

Shallow draft or not they overacheived and played their way out of a top ten pick - They did not sell at the deadline, they fell I love with their own players - The ever cycling of suck continues |

The more I watch Gauthier the sicker I get. I worry its Nolan Patrick in reverse. Right up until the point he was traded I was dreaming of a Gauthier (Insert center here) Michkov top line for years to come.
It's going to hurt us. I just feel it in my bones.

Off topic slightly..... Denver's season will end on Saturday. That gives the Flyers 1 game to offer Rizzo the only carrot (advantage) they have over every other team. After that the Flyers have nothing for this kid that is not better somewhere else.
Briere probably will opt out, not wanting to guarantee him a roster spot for the last game of the season because the underachievers in "the room" deserve it. |

The only player of worth that they didn’t sell at the deadline was Laughton and rumor has it some none playoff teams wanted him like Ottawa. It might turn out better to sell him in the offseason instead.
Briere hasn’t been on the job for a full calendar year yet. Let’s see what he does this offseason. If he craps the bed then pray for a meteor. |

Didn't Carolina trade him b/c there were indications that he wanted to go UFA?
He probably has a destination in mind. |

He won’t find a team with worse center depth than the Flyers. |

It's not like he's been fined before for embellishing, oh wait he has. He has a rep, he's not going to be given the benefit of the doubt.
