Won't debate the severity of his injuries, but I will question the coincidence that this is the second year in a row he is cleared to practice int he final week of the season.
I am sure everything is above board....

Remember when the Devils were penalised for circumventing the cap becuase Kovalchuk's contract was too long? |

Again, he did have a significant injury.
Fine.
The timing is extremely suspect.
I get the argument to enforce the cap come playoffs. But if you had a major player in your line-up go down, and look to replace him or risk not making the playoffs, you likely try to make that trade... but it would (frank) up your playoffs, as you would have to leave one of your best players out of the lineup (and potentially be minus any assets you gave up to backfill).
The system is (frank)ed either way.
Not sure what the solution is, tbh.

Meh, maybe a bruised penis from (frank)ing goats
Solution is very simple, youd need to respect the cap in the playoffs too

Well for starters I would'nt allow teams to ice a team over cap in the playoffs.

Oldest guy in our poker league came with a question that made us laugh quite a bit :
Would you rather :
be forced to (frank) a goat
or
Not (frank) it but everybody 100% think you did ? |

Then you will never see any in season trades and nothing much at the TDL.
Because if you cannot use the player you traded for or the injured player (when healed) in the playoffs, what is the point of making a trade in the first place?
Cap compliant in the playoffs is not a utopian solution either.

well, usually teams trade for healthy players, not sure the TDL would be so much quieter because of this.

if your $8M goes down, you trade for a similar $8 player just to ensure you make the playoffs. come playoffs, one of those players (or a combo of other players) is forced to sit.
Seems stupid.
Why make the trade if you are just gonna get (frank)ed over, especially if you had to trade players on your roster to get that $8M player in the first place.
Teams might as well throw in the towel if they lose a key player or two in a given season and say (frank) it. |

not necessarily, what you usually see in that situation is teams opting for "patching" things up temporarily with another lesser talent, and trying to go through it with an effort by committee.
if not, might as well remove the cap entirely and let richer teams like the habs pay as many players as they want. |
