Hey JD...

A few months ago, just after Gauthier was traded, the arguement arouse over the burning the first year of a contract issue, and how you thought it was a request that just doesn't happen. If I remember right, you almost seemed offended that Gauthier might have wanted that and thought Briere did right by not letting that happen.

Chicago just did that exact thing with Nazar:

the Hawks are signing prospect Frank Nazar to a three-year entry-level deal, and he is expected to join the team immediately. This means the team will be burning the first year of his deal for 2-3 games.

Just providing an example of it happening in todays hockey.

It’s very possible the Caps lose to the Bruins and the Pens lose to the Peds and Isles, but very unlikely the Wings lose both games to the Canadiens.

will they try to sign rizzo and burn a year?

kolosov stopped 24 of 28 shots. Cement head trying hard for that playoff spot. what an accomplishment it would be. 6 out of 8 teams in the division make the playoff.

does anyone think "lappy" will be reassigned yet again?

Nope. Nor have they burnt out. Or at least both issues have been addressed.

Which leaves us with the central truth: a mediocre team, on a mediocre path that stretches endlessly into the future, with a strategy of gambling (hoping for very unlikely events) to get off it.

This is how it ends for most gamblers

Looking good for the Flyers. All the pressure on other teams and Flyers only have a one game focus.

Don’t see the other teams winning out. They’ve been crap all season.

on a road to nowhere. last 14 years theme song.

I have zero faith in the 3 stooges dynamic currently in place. There is nothing so far that leads me to believe they are the answer to get this team back to being even a real good team let alone a contender.

do the Flyers own the tie break with Wings? You would think Habs will take one game, but ties are a killer. Seems Pitt will do some heavy lifting to win both and the Caps have tough game vs Boston. If Philly misses, prefer the Caps over Pitt, and Pitt finishing above Philly. If the Caps get in, they earned it, played well vs Tampa, then to beat Boston and Philly.

The Flyers lose all the tie breakers I believe. Gonna be ironic if the Dead Wings get in by beating the Habs. The Flyers had the Habs on their schedule twice down the stretch and lost those 2 games by a combined score of 13-4. That ain't gonna get her done.
