I thought the hit totals would go way down after losing Schenn last season (most hits in 22/23) but hit totals went up considerably.

2,024 total in 22/23 - 7th best in the league
2,130 so far this 23/24 season - 4th best in the league

No offence to Schenn, but he is a 6/7 th defenseman, on a good team, the Canucks have Noah Juulsen who fills that role quite well. Plus they also have Myers’s, who is playing his best hockey, a legit #3 defenseman, along with several # 4/ types in Soucy, Zadorov and Cole.

They throw a ton of hits, start scrums, are rough on opponents in our crease, fight and generally have each others backs.

I have NOT heard one poster all season say this team is "soft" - that's pretty shocking considering the riff raff in this thread.

You guys think I complain too much about my team, but holy cow, if I was a Oil fan I would be fuming over Nurse and Bouchard’s play. They are (frank)ing terrible. How Nurse got that insane contract is beyond me.

I get ripped to shreds in the Oil posts when I point out how terrible Bouchard is! For a young Dman on a good contract, playing second pairing and PP minutes...yeah, I'll take it. But if they fu4n sign him to a big contract the Oilers are screwed. This guy has a big shot and nothing else, he's a very bad hockey player.

I've had fun ripping you guys but it's hard not to admit that Tochett has gotten the best out of this group this year. We also met Boeser and Petterson in Toronto at the Allstar game and I was very surprised at how awesome and cool Petterson was to my son. His off ice persona seems to be considerably different to what I thought I saw on ice.

It's better to see Van in the playoffs than...say Minnesota or Anaheim or something.

Keep it in the past, my friend. Your team looks better than it has in many many years. The fans in Van however....could use some humility (for a team that, as you remind us all...hasn't done anything ever). But yeah, this year looks solid, your goalie is great, your D is solid (I'd vote QH for Norris), and your coach is the coach that I have wanted for my team for years. (try not to destroy anything around there though, and remember not to BOO when the boys ice the puck on the PK.)

At least Vancouver fans have reason to be fairweather, most of our history is of bad luck, bad teams, poor coaching, poor management, mediocre to decent players with only 3 who are legit HHOFers like the Sedins and Bure. So yeah, when you don't have any real storied history save for 2 legendary lucky runs to the Finals and one where you were the best team period and choked when it mattered most, had 2 riots because you didn't win in two SCF Game 7's you can understand why we are why we are.

This actually sums it all up quite accurately. Montreal is WAY over the top with the nostalgia too, but it's pretty cool also, and why not celebrate I guess? The Habs legends are getting quite old too. The absolute most pathetic thing I saw was in Toronto bringing out the legends from their Stanley Cup in the 60s (67 I think). There were like 5 guys on stage that needed to be helped on and off, and all of their teammates had already passed away! That looked pretty bad! haha
