Florida is gonna kick the poop out of Florida. |
|
|
|
Damn. Matthews wiffed.
Ah well. Tomorrow night maybe but they royally screwed the pooch tonight. |
|
|
|
That was sad. Pathetic really. You know you are playing a potential first round opponent and you play that way? It shows the makeup of our core.

This might be the best night of hockey I've seen in a few years. So many teams fighting for the last playoff spot. So many close games and in the end Spencer Carbery's team gets in. Who knew when we saw the Capitals play earlier in the season. Then there's Ottawa and their goaltender Forsberg standing on his head to upset the Bruins and deny them first place in the conference. Leafs blowing a 2 - 0 first period lead and instead of Florida, it'll be Boston in round 1. I'd rather play Boston because they don't have the emotional factor that Florida uses to elevate their game.
Boston is similar to Carolina where their play the same structure to their game during the playoffs, as they do in the regular season. It's harder for these teams to elevate their game to another level and often get beaten by a team that can turn it up. Leafs defense is a mess, but their offense might even out a series with a team like Boston. It comes down to goaltending. If the Leafs goaltenders can match Boston's, they can beat the Bruins. Of course, Boston has a way better coaching staff, so it'll be a toss-up. Let the two Florida teams kill each other.
When this season ends, it'll be time to totally rebuild the right side of the defense. There is nothing on that side that needs to be brought back next season. - PrinceLH
So you dont like McCabe, Timmins or Liljegren?

So you dont like McCabe, Timmins or Liljegren? - Aaron_85 McCabe is a left handed defenseman. Liljegren is a blank spot and Timmins never gets to play. We don't know about this guy because Keefe never plays him in games that mean anything.

Keefe is bush league. - Arctic_AARDVARK Agreed. He should have been torched midseason and a more structured coach brought in. It's starting to look like Marner may be on the outs after this year because his style doesn't compute with Treliving's vision of the future.

Capfriendly has McCabe on the LD/RD. Pretty sure he plays right since Benoit skates with him a lot and he's listed as LD.
So you dont like those guys? You never answered the question.
I dont get how you can remake the right side when 3 of them you don't know anything about? But hey...whatever gets you through til Saturday

Rielly
McCabe
Benoit
That should be your left side of your defense next year. Rebuild the right side. Boosh is really a bottom pair defenseman, if not a 7th defenseman. The rest of the Left hand defensemen are not top 6 players.

I would rather see Timmins play, then Liljegren. At least he can skate and shoot the puck. Liljegren is too timid in his own end.

You are playing the team that beat you last year and a potential first round opponent. All your ‘stars’ are playing. You give up the most shots in a period by any team all year?
I’m sorry, we are going to golf again this year. Same core, same results. |

Ive never seen a guy get pasted in the boards as much as him. I have a feeling they are trying to make him into something for teh sole reason that he is our draft pick and they have years invested in him. Time to move on after this season.. |

Domi is awesome. I would have liked to seen him feed Matthews for 70 and then turn around and pound Bennett… |

They should try to garner a draft pick or use him in a trade to get a better defenseman. Rumour is, Brady Tkachuk is possibly on the block. Leafs should consider a Marner for Tkachuk trade with other moving pieces, one being Liljegren. Maybe Chychrun could be also part of a more structured trade. Marner isn't part of a Treliving style of team. A sign and trade may be the way to go.

nah ... Spatso sticking with the "should've taken Laine storyline"....
that one still cracks me up.

Edmunston has been a bust since he arrived here. Sure, he's a big shot blocking defenseman, but he's as slow as a slow. No hands, no skating acumen. |
