I really like how him and Gorton handle the press conferences, they aren't giving away any state secrets but you can tell they have a plan in mind and know where they're heading with this. - Pat1993
Yeah.
I feel a sense of confidence when the speak, a focus.
You get a feel they have a plan A, and if needed, a Plan B... C...D etc..
That is what this team has been missing for so long.

good for him.
I wonder if the habs will have him stick around for player development purposes, maybe it's something he'd be good at. - Pat1993
I think he was working with the kids this season, so perhaps.

And that plan B is not called Dwight King. |

Regardless of our record, a lot of good things came out of this season.
#1 - For me it's Slaf becoming a useful NHL player, he no longer looks like a deer caught in the headlights. He's more solid on his skates and has adjusted to the speed of the game. We now have a true 1st line, something we haven't have had in ages.
#2 - Our D is going to look very good soon.
We still have a lot of things to work on (ie. defensive play, 2nd line, etc) but we're clearly heading in the right direction. - Garfield512
Like I have said a few times, Dach injury (although it sucked) may have been a blessing in disguise for Slaf's development (ice time, 1st line, PP), and to a lesser extent Newhook.
I really like that Newhook / Armia / Gallagher line... they will need to find Dach 2 wingers over the summer.

Yup. He looked great.
And despite everything, shoulder operation and all, I think we've seen a nice evolution in Caufield's game.
Almost finished 30 goals despite everything. He'll score more than that next year for sure but the rest of his game will remain elevated. Our first line is doing fine. - Scabeh
CC is becoming a more well rounded player, and with Slaf on the other wing, he does not have to be the only guy that needs to score. I suspect that line will average out the goals nicely in the coming years.

What? ... you don't miss seat of your pants management?

well that, and a proper rebuild, something the organization has literally never been through before.

Looking at the standing and the season, seems strange to feel excited about this team.
I remember how frustrated I was at the end of the seasons when we had those #3 picks.

On another note, you gonna live stream your self-foot surgery?
I'd watch that.

I'm just happy things are going rather smoothly so far, both in terms of what's happening on the ice and the acceptance from the fanbase. I was expecting fans to be way more reluctant to the idea of a rebuild, there's still whining going on but it isn't so turrible. |

The difference between finishing last with a plan and finishing last when we expected to do better is huge. (Hughes)

There's finally light at the end of the tunnel and the team is exciting to watch even though they're still making a lot of mistakes.
For me, it sure beats being a bubble team with no good prospects to look forward to and getting an early exit from the playoffs. |
