MSTL is focused on players development, this won't change next year as they are slowly bringing more team concepts.

Celebrini and Necas would change things a bit in terms of timing, it would accelerate the plan

they need to onboard Hutson, Mailloux, Roy, Dach (who barely played the past 2yrs) then you have Engstrom, new guy being drafted in a couple months, new guy they trade for....still tons of teaching for next season. Takes a couple years for a young player to work on their game at the NHL level, get stronger, learn the team concepts and apply them properly

I was skeptical when MSL was announced as coach, and I really thought he would only do the job for a year or two, then move into player development. But he has done a decent job with the kids, I will give him credit for that.

I think next year is the last of the "development" years for the core... some of those guys will have finished their 3rd/4th+ year. and expectations will be pretty high for the 25/26 season.

That is when we see if MSL has also developed as a coach and/or they add more to the coaching staff.

Or if a complete change is needed

That's why trading down is a possibility imho.

For sure! I've noticed that as the draft approaches, the defensemen are crowding the top 5. A lot of solid choices within the top 7 for us either way. But trading down to get Lindstrom/Iginla would be pretty sweet. Then package up some of our young defensemen and picks for another Dach/Newhook move and that plugs a couple of significant holes in the top 6.
