Plus / Minus is a gauge, but not really fully indicative.

Teams with losing records are likely to have scored less goals than allowed. But that does not necessarily point towards bad defence or bad offence.

If you win 50 games by 1 goal and lose 32 games by 3 goals, you are net negative goals, but have 100 points.

Are they a bad team?

Clearly indicative of a potential problem, but not enough to point the finger on that stat alone.

It is not an absolute measure but when you look at that stat for the hall of famers, usually they end their career with a big +…

My conclusion is that the + and - is heavily related on the team you are playing on… Much more than the Dman performance itself…

You would have put Markov playing for Habs in the 80s and he would have finish with a much better stats…

yes, but no one has been arguing that this isn't the case, simply that it doesn't tell you much other than that. it doesn't explain why the team is in the +/-... (goaltending? defense? lack of goal scoring..? etc.)

Or when a great player plays on a great team, he will end up with a huge differential… (Robinson)

And an ordinary player playing on a great team will most likely finish with a better differential than a better player playing on an ordinary team(Markov)…

The leafs are not prioritize the right things…

Who gives a (frank) about putting an individual objective in front of the team…

Leafs have made Conference Finals for 30 years and instead of playing as a team and finishing strong before starting a serie that will be crazy difficult for them they do things like that…
