Assuming that the Leafs get bounced by Boston again, I'm sure that they're will be pressure to get rid of Tavares and his contract. Only one more year at $11M might be appealing to KFC if Tavares is willing to go to Chicago. Might be able to get a 2nd rounder and a prospect for all of that cap relief. Conditional 7th rounder back to Toronto. |

Really seems like the Leafs lack mobility on the back end. - breadbag
Seth Jones is pretty mobile. |

I'm thinking the Foligno statement was planned by KD.
I expect 3 NHL players to be added to this roster through free agency, which i thought was the plan during this past season.
I still expect them to end up with a top 5 pick next season. - BetweenTheDots
Technically they did - not through FA - but they were Foligno, Perry, and Hall. Perry was after the guy from the Islanders (it seemed like) didn't buy in and (unironically) was then bought out.

That was a terrible pass across the middle by him that led to the 2nd goal. Young players mistake |

I doubt that KD knows how much turnover will occur on his roster. He has thought, ideas a d a design what players he probably will a e but so much is reliant upon free agency come July 1. .ad scramble to sre-sugn some of your own guys while trying to e rice a free agent before he is swayed back into the fold with his original team
Just to give an exa.ple: reading on Res Wings beat how Bertuzzi would be a reasonable player to ri g in. Uncertain if they can uy out or loose a couple if contra rs, but Tironto will ha e bug cap issues a d the Red Wungs could use ertuzzi style. Plus maybe Kane nit coming back?
Speaking of Kane, perhaps his wife influences where he plays next.
And actually Chucago could really appreciate what a Bertuzzi brings in terms of his style. Big Suze guy around net and he can score some too |

I would like to see Foligno and Hall convince former teammate DeBrusk to sign as a FA. - LAHawk
Would like to see KFC sign him, Marchessault and a decent dman to pair with KK. |

The writer on the Detroit blog is talking about them adding a veteran RD. One poster mentioned he heard Murphy is available (he is ???) and is a decent 2nd pairing guy. I replied that Murphy for a decent forward prospect would be my trade proposal. Hawks would have to add a RD in the off season to replace him. |

Bettman is reading the Loafs thread too.
Expect a stern directive to the Bruins that they lay down for a couple of games and let the Loafs win a couple. Seats on the glass at Scotiabank Arena are going for $1835.00 each and Gary knows the value of a buck even if its a Canadian$. Afterall he's gotta find a way to cover all of the Arizona Coyotes losses.

Bystander out with the Bruin flu and the regular season superstars MIA. If the Leaves go out in this round there will be a significant drop in population of this Province. For any closet Leaf fans, like say Rick, the Suicide Prevention Line in Toronto is 9-8-8. |

Here's an article about what KD says, so in my opinion he's staying within the parameters of the rebuild. - BetweenTheDots
What exactly does that mean?
Sounds to me like he’s ready and willing to do the thing that some have been arguing for over the last few months. Sign some higher end players to shorter term contracts so that the team can be more competitive… |

If you read The Athletic, Powers column this am, that's how it reads to me. KFC basically saying it's time to stop treading water or maybe drowning is more accurate. |

KFC has to be careful being overly patient because you know the media, most fans, ownership and possibly the players aren’t. I think it’s imperative the team shows even moderate on ice improvement next season. |

NHL draft history tells you that when the opportunity is there to pick early it is where SC champions are conceived:
Fleury/Malkin/Crosby/ Staal in consecutive years
Mackinnon/Rantanen/Makar
Stamkos/Hedman/ Kucherov
Potvin/Trottier/Bossy
Toews/Kane
So the Hawks can't make a mistake in this year's draft and need to find talent in the middle of the draft that might take a little longer to deliver.
There is a big difference between improving the on ice product and building a champion. - RickJ
Only one of those teams lost on purpose (penguins). The others were bad for various other reasons.
Why don't we think Nazar, Korch and Bedard are the three? |
