What was the bigger loss?
Peca
or
Patty LaLa
I'm with the latter, but it's close and that is pretty illuminating and meaningful either way. |

I put a high value on creating high danger chances (and obviously giving them up), so I don't consider that small. Some of it is a reflection on whatever Donnie was trying to do, but I think the eye test showed he wasn't able to get to the net and create chances the way he did the previous season.
If Skinner, Tage, Tuch are all here, would be surprising to never see them together. - Lunaion
Good way of putting that.
You don't consider it small, but it is not anywhere near a complete picture.
Also, don't like at the game tracking event data to see what the mathematicians consider as high danger chances and what they don't, as there are issues on each of end of how that is calculated.
Some would tell you that high danger chances overall are not as reliable a metric as some others out there.
The eye test showed a ferkakta system, if there even was one, and it also showed more teams ran out the trap or a version of it to slow down the Sabres rush offense.
It's no secret a big part of their offense in the 22-23 season thrived on chaos.
It didn't even look they tried nearly as much to create chaos last season, on top of more teams being more stringent with their game plans. |

So much for your simpletons to learn, so little time.
Like ROR, I’ve lost my love for trying to help the sheep see the light.
Btw, there are another 50 links for the vaccines since the last ones I’ve sent.
With half a brain and an openness to new information, it’s amazing what you can accomplish.
Hopefully it doesn’t come too late for you |

Elliotte Friedman wonders if some of the previous veteran players that played for Buffalo are thinking to themselves "I told you so" after hearing many of the player's comments during locker cleanouts.
He heard some of those veteran players were saying "these players needed tougher love" after leaving

Since 2021- Tage Thompson is third in the NHL among centers in goals/60.
His defensive metrics were actually positive this year.
He's a bonafide top line center.
I can't believe anyone is worried about him in particular |

Not that you asked but here is what I see as a possible solution:
Lindy-HC -2 years to right the wrong Terry felt about firing him before he moves into a front office role with the team
Peca- Associate Head Coach heir to Lindy
McKee-Assistant Coach
I don't think that's an awful solution but it is not my first choice
Here is my wish list:
Rod the Bod- isn't gonna happen
Mike Sullivan if he gets canned
Bruce B- he can get you to the playoffs but I don't think he is the right type of coach
Berube-I am not sure on him but I know they like him

Sir, this is Hockeybuzz.
Owen Power has become the defence version of Sam Reinhart too.

Lindy with Appert as an assistant to take over after he leaves I think is my favourite. Nothing to do with his connection to the organization, more to do with what he did in New Jersey with a team that we could emulate (but with goalies who can make a save).
Berube and Sullivan are also awesome options if they can put together a good staff (Both St.Louis and Pittsburgh had their own fair share of special teams issues this year).
Time will tell

does the buffalo connection help or hurt the issue?
do they get longer leashes?
or can Terry and Kevyn be objective? |

I don't think it matters with that group, they are all who they are. Probably demand a lot from these players, that's how they where. |

This must be the other guy he snubbed 🤔
Jerry Sullivan (11/22/21)
@ByJerrySullivan
Sam Reinhart, the highest-paid Panther, has no goals and one assist in his last six games and his ice time is declining. Where are the Sabres fans who told me how much they would miss him? When I hear of all the positive qualities the team lacked in the past, I think of Reinhart.

Injuries are a slight concern but other than that if anyone but Matt Ellis ran that PP he would’ve been a 35 goal 75 point guy in 70 games |

Tage was bad for 2-3 months this season. We’ve gotten a clear explanation why. I don’t understand the worry. |
