I find it makes sense, every year you're bound to have a series or two that finish early, picking every series to go to 6 or 7 games isn't a sure strategy either.
plus the rags are a much better team, I know Ovechkin started playing better but I'm still surprised the caps made it lol - Pat1993
they have no business being there tbh. the deserve to go out in 4 or 5 |

well, the way the season ended it kind of looked like a bunch of teams weren't all that interested in going to the post-season in the East, but yeah I get what you're saying.

assuming Gally and Anderson are not tradable, which ones of the bold could go this summer?
really, the only logical answer is Armia
and Pezzetta on waivers after camp - fidopro
I think Dvorak would have more trade value because he's an experienced centerman.
Armia's salary might be much to swallow for prospective teams unless we retain salary. But he has only 1 year left on his contract ... so Meh!
Pezzetta is spare parts and easily replaceable by a younger player ... I also think he's done in Montreal.
All in my opinion obviously ... HuGo might have totally different ideas of what they want. |

I think they'll want to keep Dvorak and Evans, at least until next tdl.
with Dach who you never know if will play or not... not a bad thing to have a few centers |

It wouldn't be the worse thing to happen ... I don't mind those 2 players, they are useful. |

He made some good trades but it was " seat of your pants" management all the time to plug some holes in the lineup. Those holes resulted from bad drafting in the early years of his tenure and the poor development pipeline he put in place.
Molson mentioned this when he held a press conference after he fired Bergevin ... paraphrasing him ... "... almost no players in our lineup were developed in house".
There was no long term strategy on how to build the team so the team stagnated under him.
I won't mention the stupid expensive contracts he awarded that we're still trying to get rid of ... also the Danault fiasco ... the Aho - KK (3rd pick) ... Mailloux PR fiasco, etc.
Anyway, he's just a bad memory at this point. |

oh I know, even if the habs win the cup, we'll talk about how they could've won sooner had it not been for Bergevin's tenure. |

To be fair, the previous GMs going back to the 90's weren't much better.
A total rebuild has been needed for a looooooong time, I'm just happy they decided to bite the bullet.
There's finally light at the end of the tunnel ... its better than being a perennial bubble team going nowhere. |

I think in part that's because rebuilds are a fairly new concept, back then you could restructure an organization fairly easily but now with the number of teams there are in the league it's become very difficult to accumulate elite prospects and develop talent without finishing near the bottom for a while to be in a better posture at the draft.

I have the Jets in 7 against Colorado ... good team, good goalie.
They will surprise people I believe. |
