Chad's thought was yes it would be an overpayment, but don't (frank) around.
If you think Karlsson is the answer, make sure you get him. - kingcong39
That's fair, it just seems like there's a little tunnel vision if he's the "must have" player. He's probably a 45pt guy here. A good addition, but there's certainly others I'd prefer. |

Well yeah. That's less of a no than Crosby that's for sure. - TheSabresTaco
Yeah, he may have just been using us to drive prices up, but he seemingly entertained coming here last time around. With Tampa heading towards a rebuild themselves, maybe we can entice him? I might just be sipping the kool-aid again. |

Logan Couture might not be a bad add but 3 years at that price is a bit rough. I'd imagine he'd be relatively inexpensive and SJ might hold a few bucks. |

SJ is maxed out in number of contracts being held IIRC |

I mean they are going to have to blow up half the roster in a month, but continue - Swedish_Jesus
Yeah, they really shoulda held back from trying to win the last few years
Montour will probably be gone
Panthers UFAs to be that KA should have an eye on to help bottom 6,
Kevin Stenlund bottom 6 center, good on the PK, can chip in some offense.
Steven Lorentz*, a good Buffalo name, hustling, hard working with some skill. He’s been odd man out a lot of the season, but has shown well when he plays
And I think Lomberg is up for a new deal.
*and Lorentz is pronounced Lawrence, so he might be meant to be a Sabre |

>>> Luukkonen is the big RFA of the summer. Coming off a career season, the Sabres will likely try to lock him up for a few years. I used the contract the Minnesota Wild gave Jonas Gustavsson last year as the blueprint. He was re-signed to a three-year deal with a $3.75 million cap hit.
I went to $4 million for UPL with the salary cap going up and Ivan Fedotov getting a two-year deal with a $3.25 million annual average value from the Philadelphia Flyers yesterday.
>>> Trade 1: Sabres acquire William Karlsson from the Vegas Golden Knights in exchange for Matt Savoie and a 2024 second-round pick
>>> Trade 2: Sabres acquire a 2024 second-round pick (via Florida Panthers) from the Utah Hockey Club in exchange for Henri Jokiharju
>>> Free Agents
I finished filling out the roster signing two free agents.
Tyler Toffoli – two years, $7 million AAV
>>> Erik Gustafsson – one year, $1.5 million
Gustafsson is the cheap move to fill out the defense group. This is the type of move that the Sabres analytics department could hang their on hat on as an under-the-radar addition. Gustafsson has had strong underlying numbers the last few years playing for a few teams.

Was this written by Krueger?
He would be very proud seeing Jeff at 4RW., lol. |

The interesting thing for me with the Lindy hire is that perhaps that reduces some of the stigma from players considering signing/accepting a trade with Buffalo.
Hopefully Lindy will announce a terrific set of Assoc/Asst Coaches to round out his team and further build the credibility of the team.
Then, it is all on Kevyn's shoulders as far as improving the roster enough to further reduce that stigma.

This seems like it isn't going to age well.
You may be entering Sabretooth9 territory here. - IonSabres
Kid went from phenom to AHL goalie after 4 starts this season, a tad different than calling the #1 goalie in the NHL (for a period of time this season) horrible.
I didn't say he wasn't good, I said he is overhyped.
He is not a phenom.

For the Penguins to accept?
2024, 25 1st, Savoie, Kulich, Ostlund
This kicks off their delayed rebuild, and without Crosby they'll want to sell the rest of them.
It would need to be a massive over pay, and then he'll need to want to go to Buffalo. Or anywhere else for that matter.
It's one of the hardest 'no's' you'll ever find. - TheSabresTaco
Is the cost worth it, TBD.
It covers accountability, leadership in the locker room and makes Buffalo a desirable place to go to, since you would be playing with a historical player. It's very aggressive, but someone needs to set the tone...Ruff talking about voicemail vs texting yesterday raised a few flags with me.

Wouldn't it be more efficient, in a perfect world, to go after Stamkos in free agency and keep all that? - QuinnFan
Ideally yes, when has Adams been able to sign a top FA though?
Buffalo would have to offer ~ $9mm+ for him to even consider a yes.

I have been harping on the Sabres to acquire Stamkos for some time now as I believe he is perfect to be the C and bonafide leader of the team for a couple, three years.
One thing Adams can do to bolster the impression of the Sabres with other players he wants to attract as FA's and trade targets is to acquire a guy like him.
How?
As soon as the Bolts are eliminated from the PO's, call BriseBois and offer a trade for the rights to Stamkos...of course, Kevyn would need to speak with Stamkos 1st before trading away an asset.
Asset = Joker or Rosen... Hell, even both for all I care. |

I watched the Ruff press conference and noticed some interesting things. When he was answering questions I noticed that his left side of his face looked a little paralyzed and his left eye didn't fully close when he blinked like his right eye did. Also the way he was sitting was kind of weird as well. It looked like he was favoring his right arm by not moving it very much like he did with his left arm. I hope he is ok health wise. Anyone else notice this? |

Listen to Peters talk about the texts he got from other former NHL players when they hired Ruff.
These guys know its still run by Pegula and no one likes the way Eichel was handled.
Hiring Ruff reaffirms Terry remains in control, that will repel talent until he goes back to his yacht...and stays there

I saw that too, I was thinking stroke any second...I don't wish ill on him at all but it would be so Sabres if he strokes out right before training camp. |

That left side is awfully young. Yikes.
And if you're playing Greenway at 3RW, you're doing it wrong.

Well it doesn't surprise me, might have been a better look to actually have leaked rumors that they interviewed anyone or brought someone in for a interview. |

Problem number 1: Don’t listen to Andrew peters
This same Andrew peters said he would take 18 pat Kaletas over 18 Sidney Crosby’s
