as it is, the rule favor teams who have injuries. that's a complete nonsense.
imagine a team at the cap, no injuries, they cannot trade for a Hertl at the tdl. too bad so sad, no cap space.
then another team, let say Vegas, have an injury to Stone and can proceed to the trade to acquire Hertl. and then have both players in the lineup in the playoffs! complete idioty.
how about this? you put player on LITR to save some capspace? fine, you can get another player via trade with the free capspace, but the player you put on LITR... his season is over. period. healthy or not, he's not coming back. not during the regular season, and not in the playoffs either. finito, see you next season.
you will tell me, teams won't put players on LITR (unless said player is really done for the year, like Price per example). well, yes! that's exactly it. problem solved.
stay healthy. - fidopro
I 100% agree with you.
But that wasn’t Paul’s point.. |

he didn't have any point. Price and Stone are 2 very different situations. anyone with half a brain can understand that.

Of course they’re very different situations, one team is using one rule to stay cap compliant.
The other team is using another one.
If we agree or not, either team is not breaking any rules..

the whole point was that the rules are silly as they currently are, not that Vegas is "breaking" any rules.
also, Price's situation has never advantaged the habs the same way Ducherov or Stone have with their LTIR, not all that difficult to understand.

Good game ... could have gone either way.
Both teams played hard but Toronto's PP didn't work while the B's scored on one.
It's really a 3-2 game ... there was an empty netter at the end. |

Silly rules rules or not, I believe Paul’s point was, “you’re team is using cap circumvention, and so is *mine*.
Also I can’t say either way if the habs have used Price’s and or Weber’s cap space to better the team in any way, I don’t follow that close.. |

do you have to follow things closely to figure that out? Price was never added to a playoff lineup as an extra 10 million over the cap for a cup run...

La prochaine partie sera cruciale pour les Leafs ... s'ils perdent, ils auront beaucoup de difficulté à s'en remettre. |

I’m not asking that.
Have they used Price’s LTIR cap relief to sign other players, I don’t know.
His LTIR gives the team 10 mil more to spend, no? |

yes, and that is the true spirit of the rule. lose a 10M player, replace him with an other.
NOT have both in the lineup in the playoffs. |

yes Pete, but in Stone's or Ducherov's case, the players came back just in time for the playoffs.
Weber and Price had permanent injuries, and never came back as salaries over the cap for the playoffs.
I don't know how else to phrase it Pete, but it isn't the same at all lol.

if your team did it and won a cup, would you care?
the PA isn't going to care. It allows more players to get paid a better salary. most owners have already said meh to it.
why? cause putting the best players out there at the biggest time of the year benefits everyone. better ratings, attendance, merch sales, etc. |
