yeah, it's kind of hard to evaluate a player's habits on a really bad team imho, his stats could indicate he sucks defensively but that's just because everyone around him is awful lol.
while I mostly agree on your Kovalev take, I always wished he had a little something more physically and on the defensive side to go along with his insane offensive skills, then he would've been a "complete player"... - Pat1993
No poop!! Who needs skill like that upfront when you can just draft a Michael McCarron at 26th, crack your knuckles and take the rest of the year off!!

Meh, bad blood in the last contract talk, bad blood with moving him to the wing, had a bad season.
Bottom line, if they do want to trade him, I hope our buddy Kent is very interested.
As I said, depending on who's already taken when we pick, that top 10 pick we own could be traded away for Zegras and I'd be ok with that.
Hell you kinda hope the guy you get with that pick will turn into that so... might as well get him. - Scabeh
talented kid but not the style of player they need to add IMO, I want them to build to have success in the playoffs...not highlights in the regular season. Just my opinion.

sounds like if I'm the Ducks, I would rather keep him if it's for that top 10 pick, or instead get some young skilled talent that already has a bit NHL experience... he's 23, I doubt everything has gone to poop in ANA to the point of no return, there's probably something to be figured out there if they decide to keep him.
but hey, Hughes has been pretty darn good so far, let's see what he can do.

they'll have to do both imo. they can add a Zegras and also add a more physical winger. they need talent AND size/grit. I'd be surprised if they find everything in the same player.

you're already assuming he's gonna pull an invisible man move in the playoffs lol...

Give me one example of a playoffs game where Zegras hasn't performed to your standards.

I just get Kovalev vibes fromt his guy... not in talent, per se, but in the "I will show effort when I feel like it, otherwise, just (frank)-off and let me float".

If I could add 23 years old Alex (frank)ing Kovalev to our team right now. I would do it in a heartbeat.
