So true, two ECF loses against the SC champs. Meaningless.
Yup, trade em all. Fire the GM and coach.
Maybe bring back Snow. Those were the good old days.

- nyisles7

Since you want to go that route. How long do you harken back to those two years and think everything is fine? One more year? Three years? Ten years? It's a what have you done for me lately league. There needs to be a point where it just doesn’t work anymore.
And by the way, I didn’t say anything about firing, trading or tearing it down.

Maybe, but that was by far the near the end of the list why they lost three in a row.

sOrOkin wasn’t in game 1 and 2 but he certainly was a reason why they lost game 3

I may be delusional but the Isles gave up 21 shots tonight while getting 31 of their own. Pretty much played a good game. sOrOkin sucked. I know you have a boner for him but for me that decision was a big reason why if not the reason the Isles lost.
Guy has lost his mojo. I hope he gets it back because he’s signed for 7 years.
Edit: watching post game and Roy was asked about sOrOkin 3 times and would answer.

- nyisles7

I don’t have a boner for him, others maybe. I should have said the series, not tonight. Isles have been bad and it’s on the team.

This team would be losing against anyone in the playoffs maybe bar the Caps. There is no sense of urgency on this team and there never is.

Once the game gets into a goalies head it takes a while to get your game (mojo) back. Hopefully he gets it back in the offseason

They grew to the ECF two years in a row and fell short. How many teams make the CF? 4 ?
How many make it 2 years in a row.
It goes in peaks and valleys. Especially with the cap.
The key is to make the POs and they did that.
They may need to take a look and retool after this.
Carolina is a dam good team and may go on to win it all.
As far as trades and tear it down. For Years the same sh!theads since Lou has come here have said the same poop about the roster, the trades the signings etc. from the first off season.
It gets (frank)ing old. If you ( not you ) have nothing interesting or intelligent to say except negative repetitive sh!t about the GM the roster blah blah blah just route for another team or just shut the (frank) up. It adds nothing!

I still love how this team played like complete pussies on Monday when it mattered most. That’s your obit right there.

Game one was the game to steal. I don't think it would've mattered since I think the Isles are outmatched, but it would've given them a fighting chance.

I hope so. He should get it back he certainly has the skill set and athleticism. Like you said once you let the game get to your head it can take a while. He needs to refresh in the off season. We need him. He’s a big part of our core moving forward.

Periods 2 and 3 of game 1 was the best they’ve played this series. And, I’m sure you agree, it obviously still wasn’t enough. I’m not surprised at all to lose this series but what a strange way to lose three in a row.

Need some bounces. They have had none really.

It’s harder to get bounces in your direction when the other team has more skill and, at this point in the sport’s arc, more speed. When your best players aren’t doing much either, that doesn’t help.

I think varly saves goals 2 and 3
- Upstate_isles

Not so sure about two. Reilly crossed his vision momentarily and I think that brief screen cost him. I didn't see the third goal but heard it was stoppable.

Agreed you make your own breaks. I thought they played well enough to win tonight.
Agree, Barzal, Horvat, Dobson etc. need to step up. A good bounce or deflection would be nice too!

He didn’t do them any favors imo.
Roy was asked post game about sOrOkin and he refused to answer. Roy got that change wrong. It’s on him.

I don’t think it’s strange at all. This is the Islanders. Inconsistent in every sense. They have been for three seasons. Not really sure what anyone else needs to see to validate this.

Yeah this. He certainly wasn’t good but I think it’s hysterical the vitriol he’s getting on here tonight. Where was that when Pelech was crapping all over the ice every game? Horvat who has had next to no impact this series along with Barzal? Crickets. Sorokin played one game. He played bad. But of course it’s definitely his fault we are going to more then likely get swept, again, by this team. Did Sorokin get 11 shots on goal in game 2? Did Sorokin have one shot on goal in 30 mins of play or could he not finish with a little extra effort in game 1? Nope. Me stating the obvious will of course be met with the usual, hyperbole and stupidity. That’s like death and taxes.

The truth is this team has been on the down swing since their last ECF appearance. We weren’t one Bo Horvat away from being a contender. TIMING. Our GM should’ve diagnosed that but didn’t. Instead he continued to double down on the belief that this group was some sleeping giant. That’s on him. Period. That’s why our team lost. They aren’t that good for multiple reasons. Anyone that can’t acknowledge that is either delusional or an homer with zero objectivity. There’s no happy medium there. If you think they lost this series due to a lack of “puck luck” you would be a special kind of stupid. If stating the obvious makes me someone who “says the same things” over and over and “has nothing to offer” I’ll happily embrace that standing over here firmly on the ground in reality. I’m comfortable with that.

Gotta add…Barzal, Horvat, Dobson…where were you tonight?

Pulock, shoot the (frank)ing puck. Too many guys treating this like just another game tonight. Nelson, aside from a tap in, hasn’t hit the net all series. Fasching was probably number one star from our team and Lee not far behind. That’s…ridiculous. Too many guys just not sticking out.

- potvin05

Tonight? How about the entire series. I forgot Barzal and Horvat were even playing at times. Dobson I wanted to forget but he wouldn’t let me. The Canes were homing in on him and pressuring him which led to multiple turnovers. It was obvious.

Not sure if he is still harboring an injury or Keaner was right in saying him potentially not being in this series wouldn’t have been as big of a loss as I thought.

What have we learned with an additional three (3) games.

1. Our top players have been average if non-existent.
2. Our goalie of the future situation is looking anything but promising right now.
3. This team, is, whether people here want to believe it or is out matched.
4. Yes, there are spurts of optimism during the games but no sustainability.

The bottom line here is if you are just happy, they made the playoffs. Spoiler alert, you will not be disappointed. If you want to see success, a competitive team, growth, sustainability for a bright future. Spoiler alert, you will be disappointed.

This team will go into the offseason with more questions than they had prior to the playoffs.

I actually disagree with this. I don’t believe there are any questions this team needs to get younger, faster, and cheaper. We need young, cost controlled talent. We’ve needed it for years. This lineup is like a loaf of Italian bread that’s been left on the counter uncovered for a few days.

This team has been a bubble team for years and was a bubble team before the ECF runs. Lou only wants to change coaches and wants to do very little work with the roster and prospect pool. You cannot lock up your entire roster which is not good enough and expect you will be a legit team. Even bottom pair players get long term deals on this team.

This was always the worst possible matchup for the isles based on playing styles alone. The Canes are cup favorites that are in you face in all 3 zones have great gaps in the neutral zone and shoot from everywhere which leads to screens, rebounds, deflection which is how they create their own "luck". Martin needs to go and probably clutterbuck as well, Pageau can be moved if possible as maclean or Cizikas can take his spot. Doubt they move Nelson or Lee bur I wouldn't be opposed to it and I think Palmieri has been one of their best players. Bye bye Wahlstrom and bortuzzo and possibly aho I'd keep Smith. 3 and 6 are about finished too
