We'll miss Mitchy's sick plays, and he puts up a boat load of points. But AM has proven he doesn't need MM to be successful, and if we use MM's money to shore up the D, we won't need as much offense. Team culture needs to change. All offense is fun to watch, but it doesn't translate into the playoffs. Big hard D wins championships. - Whipper
Bring Stammer home in his place, spread the rest of the money around. |

Every year we think things can't get any Leafier, and...
Marner's mysterious ankle issue. I have yet to see evidence of when this injury happened. Certainly wasn't a body check. $10.9M on his way to $12.9M.
Nylander has a head ache. Cool, I get the migraine thing, but never before in the entirety of his time here and certainly not when he was playing for a new contract but when the playoffs start?! $12.5M.
Matthews has the shiites. I do give MM some leeway most times cuz he's awesome, but even this for me is a bit too much. $12.9M
Tavares has disappear-itis. Only thing he does fast is get slower. (frank) this $11M guy. Period.
Rielly has, wait is Rielly playing or does he have what Tavares has?? No further comment...doesn't get paid enough to be in the conversation I guess.
Keefe: "can't question their effort" comment. Buh bye you fuking simpleton. Get the fuk out.
That is what us fans have to deal with. Never. Ever. Ever. Have I witnessed anything like this on any other team in any other professional sport. It really is quite amazing.
Unfukingbelievable. There are no excuses here any more.
I really did expect them to lose the 1st round again; it was obvious from their team construction. But like this?!??!!? Whole new level of low. And no real explanation to the fans or any player seeming to give a shiite in a post game interview.
Just wow. |

Well it’s most certainly very leafy that Nylander deals with the worst migraines he’s had here as a leaf and then AM contracting something like E Coli right after.
I know there are long odds here but Man I just want a chance, things are not looking good if this is the case. E Coli can last up to a month. - Santo_44
Our only hope is Matthews. This team is jinxed. |

It’s (frank)ing brutal.
I don’t expect them to win, I just want them to make it a bit of a series here.
I seriously can’t think of a team the last few decades that went into the playoffs with their 2 best players having fluke injury/illnesses that allows them not to play.
We will throw marners ankle sprain for good measure.

Cap space would be nice. Maybe get a couple picks.
I'd take a pair of Marchessault/Teravainen/Monahan/Duchene in replacement. - sokosteve
I'd go D and G shopping ahead of forwards.

Saw the ankle sprain incident like a hundred times. The play he didn’t shoot, went around the net and wiped out on his own.
That is a long recovery back to 100%. |

Max Domi slides into Auston Matthews’ 1C spot at Leafs practice.
Bertuzzi — Domi — Marner
Knies — Tavares — Nylander
Robertson — Holmberg — Järnkrok
Dewar — Kämpf — Reaves

Who would you take for a goalie from this year's UFAs?
Swayman won't hit UFA.

The fact the Leafs are so much better on the road than at home in the playoffs under Keefe is an unmistakable indictment of his coaching decisions.
When he loses control over matchups and initiates rather than responds, the team performs better.
That is bad.
what else could it be?
Players suckier at home? |

lots of perimeter action
Mike Kelly
@MikeKellyNHL
Wasn't Edmonton's 'A' game last night but a great defensive effort in 1-0 win. Kept LA to the outside and Skinner was perfect.
Shots: 33-13 LA
Slot shots: 8-7 EDM
Perimeter shots: 26-5 LA
Expected goals 1.49 - 1.31 EDM
On average, you need 30 perimeter shots to score 1 goal.

It’s (frank)ed.
I really hope AM is healthy tomorrow.
I want the leafs to comeback and win, I’m hopeful but not optimistic.
If this core is going to go out one last time together I hope it’s all of them on the ice and healthyish.
I want to see a healthy AM and Marner to grow some balls and show people he wants to be a leaf. Have his best game of his career, show something for once. |

If the leafs go down like this all I’m really interested in is a Marner for Saros or Askarov and some other pieces.
Maybe Marner/Lily for one goalie and some of their nice youngish forwards.
Players seem to love playing in Nashville. |

also this
Boston's goaltending was the best in the NHL this year stopping perimeter shots (outside the slot). Swayman had the 5th best save % in the league at .978.

I dont have a lot of Faith in Tree as a GM ...trading or other things.
but they hired him, what can you do at this point?
I think the Leafs need an actual #1 D.. Rielly is not it.
hes great for what he provides. But hes not the horse you can put out at any time to try and defend - senstroll
He could a few Klingbergs with the Marner savings |
