Did you really copy and paste what I chirped in Canucks blog and post it in here because I didn’t respond to your response in that thread?!! Yikes man. I’m not even going to get into with you - I’m just sorry for whatever is going on in your life that has led to this low point of desperation and attention. Give your dad a call eh - say sorry. |

Lol. I've lived it for years, and been very annoying every spring/summer because of it.
If you really think running this core back with just a new coach is the way to go, good on you. Most of Leafs Nation have moved on and is making their voice heard to ownership.
The Leafs got booed off their own ice IN A PLAYOFF game. Ive been watching hockey a loooong time and Ive never seen that.
There will be seismic changes this spring/summer. - fifty__missions
And every single seat will still be paid for and filled next year. They could put 20 display mannequins on the ice and it would still be full. |

Pretty obvious your biased as hell
JT will sign on the cheap and be a solid third liner, Nylander isn’t going anywhere with his new contract just starting in the fall, Matthews could go, sorry but the guy isn’t much of a crunch guy, talented as hell but also reasonably easy to shut down in the post season.
The only guy they have right now with any chance of getting a return is the wussy ass Marner who is too afraid of a body check… get that weak ass loser out of here… and what I like about Tre? Marner isn’t his type of guy at all.
Marner is talented but he’s overpaid and shutdown easily unless he has a full blown stud at C. - Dozzer
I know it's easy to get argumentative with him, but seriously . . . Tre would've blown Gaudreau if it would've kept him in Calgary. Gaudreau and Marner are the same type of player.

Nylander had stated repeatedly that he wanted to stay in Toronto. Toronto said they wanted to keep him. They signed him when he was on the hottest streak of his entire career and his earning potential was at an absolute max - pacing to career bests of 47 goals and 73 assists and a 120 point season. For the record only 4 point had 120 points or more this year and 3 of them do make more than Nylander's $11.5m: Panarin, MacKinnon and McDavid. The league leader, Kucherov, makes $9.5m.
Nylander ended up at 98 points - surrounded by guys all making around $9.5m, which is sort of where it was always suggested he should be.
So, yes, they panicked and they overpaid him. They had time - there was just simply no reason to pay him at the apex. Even if he had magically gotten better this year, his salary wasn't going to change much from that point - but if he had come back down to Earth, like he predictably did, his value would drop to where we needed him to be. - Monkeypunk
No.
If I was his agent I’d say fine bye and go sign elsewhere.
And stop believing athletes saying the club the play for is where they want to be. Unless it’s Lindros in Quebec no player says otherwise… even guys in Arizona lol |

?? I'm guessing this is accidentally too succinct? The Head Coach is their boss. He has an overarching strategy that requires them to fit the systems in with it. He dictates what he wants from them. The faceoff plays that the Leafs run are all Keefe's orchestrated plays - that may have since adopted some suggested plays from the assistants, but the plays are setup by Keefe.
Assistant coaches are responsible for their areas, absolutely - yes - but they are under the direction and scrutiny of the Head Coach. When something isn't working, they are answering to him. You know at work when you're on a project that's behind or flailing and they decide to have 3 meetings a day to ask why it's so far behind? Same type of idiocy, I'm sure, happens in their world - PK and PP aren't working? What are you doing about it? How is going? How are you tracking it? When do you expect results? What do you plan to do if this doesn't work? Who else do you want to try? Blah, blah, blah. - Monkeypunk
My point was that the PP coach has enough autonomy the Keefe is not the reason they go from successful elsewhere to poopty with the Leafs.
Reilly is a detriment with no shot. He would be OK if all 4 forwards can shoot but tha tis not the case. So no matter who the coach is the opposing PK has less ice to worry about than when they play most teams with similar talent.

Yup and even he got moved. Took Tre’s time in Calgary to see the error but he saw it.
People need to swallow a simple pill. The more and more popular hockey becomes in the US the bigger and bigger players will be…. You know…. Just like every other sport out of that country?
Investing in Marner, even though talented, would be an error. |

I'd say the hate out west for Toronto isn't so much about Vancouver, they really couldn't give a (frank).
But yeah western Canada doesn't agree with Toronto on much at all, aside from the very western parts. - golfingsince

There is no way in hell the #1 goal scorer is getting traded.
None of them are going anywhere.
But MLSE has a new CEO and if he fires Shanahan, all his puppets go with him, including Treliving.

You think that's a good thing? You think that justifies bringing back a core that has utterly failed eight years in a row? Weird. |

Paul McFarland, Mike Van Ryn and Guy Boucher...
These are the offensive geniuses who are amazing PP coaches...

Then he's not getting his money. He can go elsewhere and not make the same as we'd pay him. 8x$10m gets him $80m. Another team would've needed to pay him the $11.5m we shouldn't have paid him for 7 years.
I had no problem with the value he signed at after the hold out - but I do have a problem with this amount just because if he really wanted to sign, we had time to asses a more fair market value - and if he didn't like it, he wouldn't be here.
As the cap goes up that $11.5m isn't the *gasp* is it today, but the principal that you have no backbone in negotiations isn't going to help you!

he had 5 pts in his last 13 games. Most of those with Holmberg and Knies with the Leafs fate pretty much sealed. He also didn't seem to worried about getting to 100 points because he sure didn't press for it. He seemed to be coasting and waiting for the playoffs. |

You need to remember his value isn’t based on today’s cap. It will be based at where the cap will average out. Roughly $5 mill a year increases now that Bertuzzi’s favourite illness is gone so by the halfway mark he will only been about a 1/10th of the cap. |

It can certainly be done, but it’ll be done on his terms and that usually doesn’t bode well for the team trading the player. |
