I just don't care.
I don't think other coaches are much better or worse.
Its irrelevant to me I don't care who coaches this team as long as its not a dinosaur. - Santo_44
I sorta agree here. I do not like Keefe - didn't like him when I was younger either but that's personal....In terms of X's & O's there are some differences for sure with one coach vs another - but at the Pro level the big difference is in game bench running and getting players to buy-in. That last part is how you handle and motivate, how you keep accountability, your relationship with the leadership of the group, etc.
Maybe that is where you could point to Keefe for whatever reason - not being the guy for this group these past years.
Note:I dont like his in game lack of adjustments and I find he mixes up lines a bit too much (not same level as some on here that are furious with it though). Line juggling is necessary a lot during the year, just not to his amount though persoanlly. |

-Klingberg was bad
-Probably didnt do enough or aim high enough for better TDL players
-Dont care about excuses, every team has injuries.
-im more worried about him doing more damage the more he has time
cant take credit for this, but I think its accurate, Tre is just a more likable Jim benning - senstroll
Klingberg was a 1 year deal don't give me that crap. Far far more worse deals have been given out the last year.
He did fine at the TDL, didn't give up anything significant in a poor buyers year.
Sorry but Tre has been here one year, so yeah when his franchise player and superstar winger can't play thats absolutely an excuse for him. He wasn't here the past decade and he does not deserve to get grouped into it.
You were a big fan of dubas and look what he did, maybe try and look from a new perspective. |

-term doesnt matter, it was a waste of space and failed target, he could have aimed somewhere else
-Vegas did well at the TDL, good teams that win do stuff like that
-excuses
-doesnt apply here.

Money means nothing to the Leafs... Keefe will be gone for sure.. Hopefully Shanny.
I think Tre might survive because he was just hired. |

There could be 1 current @NHL Head Coach that might potentially hit or surpass Mike Babcock’s industry leading 7M per Yr deal he signed with the @MapleLeafs . 🤐 👀. It would take plenty of factors for it to align , but plots are thickening. #HockeyX #HockeyTwitter

1 year @ $4.15m for a player who is exactly what we didn't need. Come on, it was a terrible deal. Having that space available would have opened up doors for us later in the year. I don't much care about Reaves one way or the other, but I would rather have had Lafferty than Gregor; I would have rather had Lafferty over Reaves.
The contract he gave Kampf is too high for what he is. So . . wait. Klingberg, Kampf, Nylander and Reaves were all overpaid. Bertuzzi ostensibly was overpaid as well, because if there were a number of $5.5m deals out there with term, he would have taken them. Domi was a good deal and I think he wants to be here.
Trade-wise he has a team that fancies itself a contender and didn't give up anything of value to not get anything of value - so it sort of wastes the year, doesn't it?

I think Bruce is past his prime as a coach - Fakepartofme
But if we’re not going to win anyway we might as well have some personality behind the bench. Bruce watches every single leafs game so I think he probably has a good handle on what the problem is. |

Kampf contract = very bad.
Nylander won't age well but necessary evil?
You have a tougher time finding good contracts Treliving has signed over the years. |

you think he is automatically gone if they lose? - senstroll It's how upper management works. Last year, Shanahan sacrificed Dubas. Just as well. Now he has one last card to play. Sacrifice Keefe and the coaching staff. If they had been proactive, they should have kept Carbery and sent Keefe away too. The special teams have went straight to hell, after Carbery left. Woll should have been playing in the playoffs all along.

In fairness to him he got screwed over by his two star players. And the haul he got for tkachuk was hailed as some of the best gm’ing in the modern game. |

i hope it happens, just looks so dumb to sign extensions and fire before that even starts - senstroll 98% of the time the coach gets a golden parachute. That was Keefe's.

Last summer's UFA D'men were complete poope. poope with term or poope with no term. I thank god for what he didn't do.
When I look at what Tree has done last summer and at the deadline it tells me that he didn't really believe in this team as constructed and he opted for bandaids and low cost investments. Frankly, he had to do 'something' b/c the team was still good and expected to compete but it clearly wasn't built in his image ..so spending his space on 1 yr commitments to Sammy, Domi, Bert and Klingberg was, for me, his way of kicking the can down the path one more year.
He kept his picks and prospects ...he's got his coach to fire ...he's got term. So he gets to rebuild this thing slowly in the image he wants. I'm curious to see what he does this summer. |

Treliving has to outlast Dubas' mistakes. If things play out the way we all expect them to I would hope that he would spend the offseason trying to make some significant changes.
Hindsight is always 20/20 but I appreciate what he came out with in Calgary when Gaudreau flew the coop and Tkachuk forced his way out. He deserves at least a couple of seasons' worth of time to right this ship. - Kinger34
Agreed! He did the smart thing and kept our 1st rounder intact. Still, he should be looking at an Islanders trade. Sorokin and one of their right handed defensemen.

Sure looks dumb but wouldn't be the worst.
The problem is Matty and Nylander apparently have been ill enough to not play games. Makes it difficult to properly rate the team in the playoffs. Some individual players but not the team as a whole. - Aaron_85
If a guy can play, and play well, with a collapsed lung and broken ribs, "being ill" isn't some insurmountable hurdle. |

That's total BS.
There were plenty of options to sign on D.
The Leafs were simply too stupid to clear cap space and wasted money on other players. |

Dobson passed him and paying 6+m for 2nd pairing RHD is not ideal - mr.sir Dobson is a $4M cap hit right now. He's probably on a bridge deal, so he's going to get paid. I'm wondering if Lou really wants to pay him? I'd do Marner straight up for Dobson. I'd also negotiate another transaction for Sorokin. It might cost you Woll.
