Horvat was arguably the best Islander down the regular season stretch but for a second straight series really provided little impact.

Varly got us in the playoffs but was nothing special in this series. You could argue that he played a major role in our game 2 & 5 losses.

Pulock, Pelech, Dobson and Bortuzzo were all abysmal. Not because of Carolina's pressure, but their own lack of composure with the puck was disgraceful. Reilly was the best dman IMO with Romanov following him

Nelson and Engvall have the intensity of a corpse.

Lee played a strong series and easily showed the most hustle we've seen from him over the last couple of years, which means Lee has been half-assing the last couple of years.

Clutterbuck and Martin were done two years ago.

Lou let this organization down. End of story...

I’m afraid you haven’t seen anything yet. Now he’ll really start flailing if the owners let him.

I was thinking Reilly was the best defenseman this series and for parts of the season. That tells you all you need to know about our defense. Pulock and Pelech’s games fell off a Cliff three years ago. Especially these past two. Lou refused to see it.

Well at least we can look forward to going over to the Rangers thread if the canes throttle them like they did here. We got that.

I do not like the Canes chances if they struggled a bit against the Islanders.

Good luck in hoping Lou sees anything. Lou is still waiting for the trap to come back and no salary Cap.

They didn’t struggle. Canes are a better team then the Rangers minus goaltending. If they lose that will be why.

In this series the canes set their record for fastest 2 goals to start the game and set their record for fastest two goals ever twice

As much as you can struggle in winning in 5 against the Islanders. Islanders had their chances in games 1 and 2. The Rangers might have something special going on and they have Rempe who can rattle some of the Canes players.

My money is on the canes and it has nothing to do with my natural rangers hate. Canes have a great team. I’m not saying that because we lost in five. I don’t think the islanders are a good team. This wasn’t a struggle for the canes. The islanders were a disjointed mess most of this series. Sloppy play for the most part with glimpses of effort. I also think the islanders lost that extra gear needed in the playoffs a few years ago.

It should be a great series. I think the Rangers will give Freddie trouble and will find a way to win. This is going to be a painful offseason of waiting on Islander news and to see if anything will be different.

Like I said, if they lose it will because of Anderson.

I like the Canes vs the Rangers more than against the Isles because of the way the teams play.

The Canes like to have the puck. The Rangers don't, really. The Rangers also aren't particularly good at defending, and outside of Kreider they like to make passing plays instead of simply attacking the net like Nelson or Lee does

Canes in 6.

From what I’m reading these guys were patting themselves on the back for making the playoffs and not getting swept. The bar has been set for next season.

How long do you think it will take to hear from Lou? Does he approach the topic with the players unachieved synapsis? That he still has full confidence in this group. Or does he state that he is extremely disappointed with the group and changes will be coming.

The correct answer is, "He is extremely disappointed with the group and changes will be coming".

However, what we will hear is, "We will look to make improvements that make sense".

Translation, "No major changes coming". You can expect the same team with a few dumpster additions next season.

The games were closer than I think they appeared. The Canes didn't play well. The isles played their rope-a-dope strategy and it kinda worked. Some extreme bad luck and bad bounces in a couple games and this series is at worst tied 2-2.

For me it comes down to a goofy constructed line up of old slow parts and some flashy bandaid parts and horrendous coaching. 3/11 on the power play. Last night when we need something good on the pp he's switching out centermen as they're coming up the ice...like....he's out of his depth. And a dumb goalie switch too.

Go back to junior.
Rod Brindamour is a good NHL coach.
Patrick Roy is not.

No he won’t throw himself under the bus. Fully expect the games were close and no puck luck mantra.

I agree. He never gives out any information. So even if there was an overhaul coming he would never tip his hand.

I'm not sure what to expect this offseason. If Lou is still the GM then I think there will be a few small changes. Hopefully Martin and Clutterbuck are gone, but I could see Lou bringing them back on short contracts.

If the owners step in and replace Lou then who knows. All we can do is wait.
