Did Daddy give you your allowance this week? Like Torts wouldn't bench him. Your love of everything Torts is hysterical. - Flyfly
you're delusional if you don't think MM will get special treatment.
and you'll probably complain about that, too

You just laid out a good resume. WTF has Torts done in the last decade? - Flyfly
He installed a new culture in Philadelphia and now the players play the right way. Other than that, the Flyers have pick 12 in this years draft. |

I do agree with you about Francis.
Maybe I should have added sarcasm font to the original post b/c it was meant as tongue and cheek. He hope you are right that he should get special treatment. We shall see if he comes over.

There it is. Culture has been installed. Nothing but up from here.

Giving money to a hockey federation/team/oligarch (to buyout sports contracts) closely tied to Putin who is actively fighting a war with an Ally which is being partially funded by US tax payers. Is it legal? Is it ethical? - coffee junkie
Those are clever questions. They work as sarcasm and legit questions.Russia has leverage. There are advantages for them to wait a year or until the end of the contract.
My guess is they’ll ask for something astronomical. If the Flyers counter with less than astronomical they walk away. But Briere and Jones show their hand. Next time they come to the table the Russians are working with an advantageous framework. |

Do you, or anyone else, have any insight as to how this would work? Does the Federation just throw out a number and hope the Flyers pay up? Are the rules in place for this type of transaction?
Like you said - those questions are really good. |

Good question but '*if* there is path to MM coming over now I would go all-in. With the geopolitical landscape today I would want him over here rather than later. If they allow him to walk I would take him in a heartbeat. No guarantee he will come over in a few years if the geopolitics get worse. - Flyfly
I’d pay the ransom right away. Get him over here asap so the Russian machine doesn’t change its mind. Geopolitical situation will only get worse so get him here. |

I get that but to me it's pretty clear. They want him to come to the NHL. They want the money. It is in their interests for players like Michkov to play in the NHL. Things could change with this screwed up world but that's the way I see it now.

I really don’t think that the Russian machine changing their mind should be part of the equation. Anyone thinking that way has to realize that the players all go home in the summer. They can keep them home whenever they want.

No doubt. That Russian oligarch masquerading as a owner and a coach, isn't in it for the hockey. He's in it for the money.

what I wonder is danny and "jonesy" doing the negotiating? zero experience. perhaps some comcast involvement? |

I personally would lean towards not bringing Michkov over for next season. The odds of Michkov and Tortorella clashing are very high with Michkov being yo-yoed in and out of the lineup with fluctuating ice time. - MJL
I think you’re correct here. I personally think the Flyers will be a contender until they name you GM. Bill can be your assistant to help the transition smoother. As we know Bill has vast experience in running a NHL team |

Every country has its negotiation style. For Russians it’s a power game. You and I probably would come to the table and try to negotiate something mutually beneficial. They don’t see it that way. They start from a hard core position and remain inflexible until the end. Feelings and emotions aren’t important. If you build relationships with Russians, it can work for you. That’s what Brière and Jones should be doing. |

You have been sitting in your basement or lazy boy spewing your uneducated opinions on Hb. Bill definitely has a passion for the team. Bill though is also just a fan with media rights. He has no clue how to run or coach a team.
