What a despicable lack of effort last night was. To get 1 shot on net in the first period and a half, after getting only 2 in the prior games first period and a half is quite the feat. One that only our team could pull off.
Too many passengers with everyone playing timid. It's clear as day to me that the choke artist stamp that has been put on them has been in their heads since game 3. Zero physical play that lead to the beat down that was game 1. Zero patience with the puck when in the zone. Zero on the give a phuck meter. It seems like when you think they can't embarrass themselves anymore, they always find a way.
In closing, pathetic. - ProvBrewin
pathetic is right. embarassing too, at least go down fighting ff sakes.

Pasta is getting zero support from his linemates. ZERO. Zacha is absolutely getting (frank)ing destroyed on the faceoff dot and they are constantly chasing the play. - Mahewman
He doesn't elevate them either. At least in the playoffs.

Look at it this way.
Game 5, they woke up in the third period.
Tonight, they woke up in the second period.
Saturday, they have no choice to start playing on time… - Bourque1970

Zacha has been terrible. In addition to his pathetic faceoffs he makes very poor decisions - like when he shoots directly at a Leaf defender instead of skating around for better angle or looking to dish off. Trying to force it and does not work out. |

That's all fine and good but it doesn't change my mind at all. It makes for crazy rational in justifying second and third rate plugs and dusters like Carlo, Gryz, Lindholm, Coyle, Zacha and DeBrusk.
You're going to sit here tell me that Pastrnak is an elite player. Is anyone watching the other series? Even true second tier players like Nuchushkin, Middlestadt, Hyman, Bennett, Kuznestov, Montour, Cirelli, Hagel, Point, to name a few out perform and are consistent over him.
In Bennett and Nuchushkin's case they do it year in year out. This guy is a regular season player the Czech Mitch Marner or Tavares and carries a massive cap hit. It's not good. It's not setup for postseason success. - glove_was_stuck
Oh come on. I get that the offense was just absolutely shut down for two straight games but Braden Point is the only player that you listed that is even comparable. They both average exactly 1.0 PPG in the playoffs.
Val and Bennett have less points in the playoffs COMBINED. With a collective 60 extra games played..... The only thing Bennett is consistently good at is getting injured.
Nichuskin had a great series but he is also riding shotgun to three top 10 offensive players in the NHL. Winnipeg was also more porous in that series than a cheese grater and took about 800 penalties.

Whining about the refs is the hallmark of a loser team with no balls. They're not playing refs, they're playing the Leafs who are bending them over sans Matthews.
Also kinda of interesting how much the team has elevated without him in the lineup. Almost like he is a massive distraction. Not that I'm advocating that Matthews is an issue but it's a really interesting situation. - glove_was_stuck

Yeah... I like you man. I really do. We rarely agree and I honestly appreciate that because it makes a more well balanced discussion on this board which is rare.
But none of what you said helped your underlying point. And the play is so much worse than your spin on it.
The bruins are poised to be the only team in sports to go up in a series 3-1 and lose 4-3 two years in a row in the history of 7 game playoff sports. Perspective |

Going to hope you're right but my expectations of this current team are not high. They love to make negative history. That has been the Sweeney legacy so far.
This team in my eyes lacks the heart to change that narrative. |

The play of the entire team has been bad the last two games.
My underlying point was that none of the players he listed are more consistent playoff performers. And they aren’t.
Pasta has not had a good series but he’s also largely being tasked with making plays on his own. Their inability to win a faceoff in the offensive zone is causing Monty to put out some lunatic lines.
My soul needs a Bruins win tomorrow so I can continue to defend them 😂

I really want to believe but I can't help ignore the recent history on game sevens. I'm hoping they find a way of playing beyond themselves... |
