I would keep your expectations low as far as the off-season. You are setting yourself up for disappointment. Even if Lou wanted to do a lot he can’t. There’s really no where to go with what we have on the books and what I’ll assume is a complete lack of interest from other teams with players we want to trade. He painted himself in a corner. - Cptmjl
Trust me Cpt, I've seen this movie before. If the Islanders are willing, I would think Nelson and Palms have value for teams and maybe even JGP. Teams that miss out on the Cup especially.

Yeah sure and who are you trading for to replace that production? Maybe Buffalo? They have to make the playoffs. Maybe they are looking for vets while we’re looking to get younger? 🤷♂️
Doubtful but that’s all I got. |

I'll sign UFA's for a year or use Bridge players if I have to. I understand if the team wants to wait until the 2025 trade deadline if next year's draft is stronger. Unless the team is a legit Cup contender, I'm trading these players by next year regardless of if they are in a playoff spot.

Their thread is glorious today. Of course they are all whining about getting trolled after trolling our thread among others for the last week. |

On the Leafs thread prior to the one they have now there were multiple posters talking about trading for Pulock. Guess they didn’t watch any Islander games this year. |

Samsonov wasn't the reason they lost last night. They couldn't score on Swayman all series. I haven't listened to or read what their fans are saying but I'm sure the excuse is they didn't have their top guys for all 7 games.

If your read about UTAH they are looking for serviceable vets to add to their young core. A Palms or Nelson would be good candidates to fit that bill. Not sure what we could get back.

Is it the “nacho year” Doritos bag? Have had multiple friends send me that already.

I would have thought even without the app you could still view it on the web....
I won't do it justice but, it has a written quote of "Leafs fans watching Woll get injured trying to save a goal with no time left and a 2 goal lead"
As it shows a video of Woll making a sprawling save in game six, then switches to a scene of McConaughey from Intersteller in the black hole screaming and crying 'no' before transitioning to someone playing the theme music on a piano.
It's..just...beautiful |

So, you look at us as the Minnesota Wild. Locked up cap space and nowhere to turn? I see locked up cap space, but it is bodies that you can find a way to move.

Some fans are finally waking up about JT. It was a huge mistake bringing him in when you already had a star 1C. It hurt the Cap and chemistry. Money could have been spent elsewhere. |

Yep. Dubas started the horrible cap management and it continues… Thankfully, it is fun to watch. |

Shanny has been very overrated as well. I think he and the coach should go.

I'm not sure if this is a popular or nuclear opinion, but I think it's true that the Leafs made a terrible mistake signing Tavares and also that the Isles could have really used him for some of those earlier runs under Trotz. A bit more skill could have gotten the Isles over the hump, and Tavares certainly would have provided that. Meanwhile, the Leafs had top-end skill to burn and needed some more quality two-way players that round out championship teams, but they had to bargain hunt for that because they tied up too much salary.
So, we all kind of ended up in a place where Leafs fans have had to pretend that getting Tavares was such a brilliant move and that he's added so much to their team, and Isles fans have had to act like he wouldn't have helped them at all; when in reality both teams would have probably been better off if he just stayed on Long Island.
I guess my point is that instead of coming here and constantly asking why Isles fans boo Tavares, Leafs fans should instead also boo him since his decision probably hurt both our chances |

It would have been for the best for both teams if JT stayed with the Islanders. Shanny should have been the adult in the room and said JT is not a fit for us when we have Matthew’s. Some Leafs fan said they only spent money on JT. In a Cap world, it’s money you cannot spend elsewhere. |

I was trying to remember what our cap situation was when he left, and the few years thereafter. Wouldn't the Isles have had cap problems if they signed JT for $11 MM?

I'm not sure that anyone ever truly felt that the Isles would be better without JT, especially when they failed to get any return for his departure. The later part of that statement is a good portion of why he got so much hate. IF the Isles had pulled off a trade and received a few picks and a prospect, I think there may have been a decent chance we had come out the better.
Getting no return at all set this franchise back a good bit. It remains debatable who really deserves the blame for that
