Nope… just this:

In 2023, the eight playoff teams that lost in the first round received roughly $2 million ($250,000 to each team). With each team having a roster of 23 players, each player received approximately $11,000.

The four playoff teams that lost in the second round also received $2 million ($500,000 to each team); each of the 23 players received approximately $22,000.

The two teams that lost in the third round each received $1.25 million; each of the 23 players received approximately $54,000.

The Stanley Cup Final losers receive $2.25 million; each of the 23 players received approximately $98,000.

The Stanley Cup Champions receive $3.75 million; each of the 23 players received approximately $163,000.

The big upside for the players are two-fold. If you win games in the playoffs, other teams are interested in you. Your contracts are usually higher. You also get more endorsements if you're a winner. It's called the long game, in regards to your career.

Just watched Marchand push an official in frustration. I wonder if he will get suspended. LOL

A good example is Patrick Moroon. He's a fringe player, especially the last few years, same with Corey Perry, they always find a job, even-though they're pretty much toast as players. It's their playoff performances that have kept them in the league for a few more years than they deserve.

No, their contracts have nothing to do with the post season. At all.
- Dozzer

I guess if we're being that petulant about it, you forgot to calculate his endorsement dollars. So you're wrong too. 🤷

Marner is great but he’s the odd man out if you want the Leafs to balance their lineup.
- mjones242

based on what I say tonight... I watched Marner closely - he wasn't bad - but really didn't do much to create space and was at a times a liability in his own zone - and he still turns away from traffic far too much.

and conversely Knies is turning fairly quickly into a smart responsible player who isn't afraid to go to all areas of the ice.
