every draft to you is weak is what you seem to say.
no it was not when you are supposedly "rebuilding". - hello it's me 2050
That is not true. The 2015 draft was very deep. Last year's draft was very deep. However a lot of drafts are not deep like this one coming up. That is just the way it is. 2025 projects to be a deeper draft. A good GM takes this into account when planning what to do season over season.
Buddy, TK doesn’t hold a candle to these elite players you’re comparing him to. It’s why the Flyers need to trade him. His contract will be a noose around the teams neck. - coffee junkie
It's how you define elite I guess. Pastrnak is an elite scorer, but has had issues in the playoffs. He tends to disappear in games, sometimes for multiple games. These last two games against the Leafs are examples, so much so the coach called him out last night. TK IMO plays a different brand of hockey, one that I would rather have.
If the Flyers had made the playoffs you are absolutely right that I would have expected Torts to be a finalist. But the Flyers didn't make the playoffs and worse yet, they folded badly down the stretch, and Torts didn't handle it very well, or as well as I would have preferred. Thus I have no problem with Torts not being considered.

The Bruins glaring weakness is at center. Coyle and Zacha are excellent 3Cs. The last time Coyle had 50 points before this year was when he was with Minnesota. Zacha never hit 50 until he got to Boston. I guess they could work as as 2C and 3C. Nobody is having a long run without a 1C. - Minnyhock
I agree and the fact that the Bruins, while losing their top two centers, were still competing for the Presidents trophy. Shows just how tremendous of a coach Jim Montgomery is.
And you would lose that bet .. go watch the post game yourself, I posted the link previously. Just admit you were wrong and I was right ... everyone knows it. - jd250
I just watched it. That is not a coach calling out a player. Calling out a player is coach initiating the discussion about a player. What Montgomery did there was answer a question posed by a reporter with an honest answer. The fact that you repeatedly post phrases like "everyone knows it" is an indication of just how fragile and unsure of yourself you are. When I post, I don't need anyone else's assurances.

And yet he's not one of the Finalists for the Jack Adams. I guess most folks don't see it your way? Flyers Nation in an uproar this afternoon after Torts was left off the list!

This is not a knock on Matthews, he is the best goal scorer in the game right now. I'm saying it's interesting to see how the Leafs are handling Matthews being out of the lineup and how it has actually helped them in this series because now they are playing a different brand of hockey, one more suited for playoff hockey. - jd250
The Leafs are playing the same brand of hockey that they always play. They're not going to change how they play due to one player being out. It is ludicrous to state that having an elite player like Matthews out is actually helping them. It's not, it's hurting them greatly. Your comment belies common sense.

I think he made a few mistakes the last playoffs but he’s tremendous. It would be a shame if the Bruins blow this and he loses his job.
I seem to remember Bill suggesting the Flyers hire him before they hired the almost Jack Adams nominee.

Pasternak has scored 83 points in 83 playoff games. Nothing but unsubstantiated and quite frankly stupid cliches. The different brand of hockey that Konecny plays from Pasternak is far less goals and assists.
Konecny has 1 goal and 7 assists for 8 points in 22 playoff games.

It was never going to happen. It was fantasy from you and Phillywhiteout.

So a coach can't be a tremendous coach if he is not a finalist for the Jack Adams award during one season? He won it last season. Does that mean that there are only 3 really good coaches in the NHL? This is an example of your logic. What happened to your prediction?

The possibility of both Montgomery and Brind'Amour being available as coaches, is a dream come true. The Flyers don't have the sense though to can Tortorella and bring in a really good modern day NHL coach.

torts part of the reason they faded. - hello it's me 2050
From the most recent NK podcast it sounds like people who talk with the players think the beginning of the end was Torts' handling of the captaincy, Coots and the subsequent fallout:
