The entire team failed, Benson is just another name in the large pool of middle 6 players in the organization.

Whys everyone think Ottawa would love to give us Tkachuk? Doubt they move in in the division.
Kadri and Weegar are old and cost to much for to long.
Is San Jos holding Celery as well? Im not paying a 35 year old Coture 8million to suck for 3 more years.
Bennett and Verhage is maybe the most realistic. But they're bot rentals. Might be able to resign Bennett but Verhage is going to get some dough in FA if he keeps it up.
I highly doubt Tampa moves Cirelli to keep an aging Stammer. - DirtyDan
Exactly, on Tkachuk. There's no way Ottawa is trading Tkachuk in the division, and if he truly was available, I'd bet there are other teams outside the division willing to pony up their first.
I hate Couture. And for three more years? Pass, pass, pass. And especially for your #1 pick. I would think the Sabres could do much, much better.
Bennett is fine as a target and he and the pesky Benson on a line might be very fun to watch. |

Almost as good as your DM to me:
"Better save that brown paper bag your bottle came in when you paid for it with food stamps. You're going to need it to breathe in when you start hyperventilating from not posting. Good luck. Also, sorry for lighting you up on a daily basis."
but not as good as you wishing ill on my child. |

I heard the same things about Peterka. Even when I say breakout year incoming.

We could make that trade for less IMO. Not many teams(if any other team) can take that contract and hes only got 1 year left.
Some one suggested Samuelsson for him straight up. I think thats more plausible. - DirtyDan
don't think so and imma tella why
We're going to disregard the NMC for the moment. JT has 1 year left at 11M. He begins the season at 34 and is already a slow-ish player. His offense is beginning to regress, as of this past season.
Next, with that one year remaining, at 11M, you're asking Buffalo to disregard its other needs to bring in +7M to the cap (Tavares minus Sam) while also losing, what Kevyn considers, a top 4 defenseman.
Samuelsson has team control for 6 more years. While Tavares is a free agent at the spry young hockey age of 35, with no guarantee of not only returning, not only continuing his decent play, but also signing a team friendly deal that allows this team to sign bigger contracts to the likes of Levi (maybe), Byram, Quinn and Peterka.
You're also aiming, and Kevo's stated this numerous times, to reform the top 6 and put a lot of energy into making it an "abrasive" and "aggressive" unit. Using 11M on a middle 6 center, while creating a new hole in the defense, makes for extremely poor vision and management.
And so, no, you're not trading for John Tavares without retention, and you're not using Samuelsson, Byram, Power or Dahlin to do it.

Not a fan of Bennett? - DirtyDan
Au contraire, mon frere
He’s a huge piece to the Panthers having success. They badly miss him in the lineup right now.
I certainly hope they can re-sign him. |

Sabresmetrix made a good point:
This draft is not as strong as last year or 2025, 11OA isn't the premium chip some are thinking it is. Taco may be pretty spot on with his evaluations of what the return would be. - QuinnFan

I specifically said we trade #11 for #14 and Couture but keep blowing a gasket over this it’s more entertaining than Fitz slowly starting to post like he used to and Pegulaville being the most mediocre human ever still. |

I expect it to take no more than 8 weeks. I believe 1 player will be moved.
