Exactly. I'll slow it down for you...
Timeline says they have too many prospects now that are NHL-ready now and over the next near. Supply overloaded vs demand.
Use those assets now to buy proven players. Those players are more expensive, putting a strain on the future ability to remain Cap Compliant.
As it stands now, they have few who will be ready in 3 -- 4 years, they need more. Use your picks to resupply in anticipation of future demands. Players on ELC helps to retain other more expensive players.Timeline fits. Financials fit.
If you like, I can set the font to expand between the letters, while setting the lines to be at 1.75 of single line spacing.

Or keep them for deadline acquisitions.
Contenders who contend for periods of time rarely use their picks
Name the last Penguin, Golden Knight, Lightning, Bruin first rounder who's made a difference?

You mean like Charlie Mcavoy? Debrusk... Paternak?
Vegas shouldn't even count cause they had the easiest route to success in NHL history.
Pittsburgh hit on a few 2nd and 3rd rounders. They usually filled their team through trades and FA since they had 4 Elite players since 2005. Crosby was probably pretty happy when Jake Gunetzel showed up though.. |

He's the most recent and he was drafted 8 years ago. |

Tampa traded a 1st a 2nd a 3rd and a 4th I believe for an up and coming Tanner Jeannot.... try and get younger and stay in the hunt. He put up 14pts in 51 games this year. Doesnt always work out. |

Once you have your core, you don't need to always pick in R1/2 |

Sure, but you also made Broads' argument for him, they haven't needed their picks since.

Yeah, it doesn't. Like drafting Nolan Foote 27th in 2019. |

They did not have a core locked up when they drafted McAvoy.
They actually had just traded a lot of their old core out then.
Not sure what you're confused about.
Tell me how awesome Brendan Brisson has been for Vegas so far? |

But had they not drafted those guys they would not still be successful.
They would have traded those picks for established players who most likely wouldn't still be playing or not at the level they were.
Theres not always a right and a wrong. Especially in sports where there are 25 different ways of going about this type of stuff.

Bruh, 5 of their 10 leading scorers from the 15/16 Bruins were gone within a year of drafting him. They absolutely did not have the core set |

The 6 I mentioned (not including Pasta who became part of that core)were still there for at least 3-4 years.... Krug was the first to leave.. I beileve the others stayed until just recently....
10 players is a big core.... bruh |

A full AHL year for any of the 4 would be disappointing.
How do you handle that + playoff expectations? I have no clue. Need a trade. - Lunaion

JC😖 - IonSabres
You want to trade some of the prospects for nhl support players, not core players. While simultaneously advising to continue the path of building through the draft.
The prospects might get a decent nhl support player, that’s it.
For your idea to work, the GM who drafted these guys and failed to sign supporting players is now going to trade his picks for supporting players.
It’s a 2D plan in a 3D world.
They are stuck between a rock and hard place.

Yeah, Krug was the only one I stated who did not to stay for like 6 more seasons or still be there..... Cause they "found" a younger better version in McAvoy. |

Maybe the Leafs would make it past the first round if they had more guys on ELC’s contributing in depth roles.
Really needed Nick Foligno and Patrick Marleau’s leadership though |
