Ok cool. Really appreciate the positive input.

How about this…. Fück off back to the Nuck thread with that absolute piece of shït trade idea.

- .HOHO.

Maybe after once you say what you really mean. Pick one

1) only Leaf fans allowed in here
2) Canucks hater
3) ignored my trade retraction
4) it’s personal cuz it’s me
5) just cuz for no reason
6) supply your own reason but be civil

Marner was ahead of him on the play and just stopped skating. It doesn't happen if 16 just stays with him.
- PrinceLH

Fair enough. It was his man & it being Pastrnak it should’ve been a no brainer.

Agree - how he is even remotely in the conversation is laughable. The guy scored 16 (frank)en goals and 40 total points and was a -9 playing all 82 games. Making $8.5M for 7 more years makes this one of the worst contracts in the NHL. No thanks. Maybe the Habs should trade for him? They already have Anderson and Gallagher being paid big $ to not score. They could go for the tri-fecta.

I’m really earning it from my lousy trade proposal lol

Foot in mouth disease my bad.

Oh ok. 🤣

Idk why but I cannot get the Canes off of my brain to trade with. Many teams could trade with them to help each other.

Think Islanders. They have the defensemen that could help us in return. They have a need for offense and Marner would help them. Lou drafted him, so it could work. The giraffe plays there, so he'd have a buddy to show him around.

Marner tough to move especially since he controls. Same situation that Calgary faced with Tkachuk. He asked to be traded to the team he wanted to sign with. Flames did not end up on the right side of that move. Trading Marner for picks/prospects, to a team that has the space is still very tough.

You are referring to Dobson. I’m big on him but I don’t see him easy to pry away from LL. Pulock also.

Totally agree they need scoring & young players. I wouldn’t put it outta the question a deal isn’t there to be had. LL is hard to read but he has to do something.

Weegar was underrated & a RHD.
Older but in his prime & scores.
Huberdeau big contract & didn’t mesh well at 1st. Has gotten better when out from under Sutter.

All said Flames did ok but took on more cap overall. Position of weakness Tkachuk had them in.

MM is awkward as many have said. If not him then it’s status quo cap wise unless something else that’s big happens & that isn’t AM or Willy & JT is immovable & buyout proof.

It’s a real conundrum Dubas left behind. Someone said ride out JT’s last year which seems more realistic then free to make a big change.

Wouldn't be surprised if we hear about Parayko again. Treeliving type of defender. If he's available I think Tree pays the price.

On another note the cap will go up very fast & large imo. Escrow is paid. 1st big opportunity for Tre to keep improving the roster into a PO contender. He has started it pretty good & will be interesting this offseason to see who & what he does.

Future expansion is too far down the road but it will happen knowing Gary & the owners greed. That is for another day of course lol

He’s another long term big contract. When he is on he skates great & break outs very well. Big boy with offence if gets back to normal.

Would MM go there though? Cap out seems mandatory to resign others Tre has already added & should resign.

Tre: Hey Lou, I’ll give you Marner plus for Dobson and Sorokin?
Lou: Fück off Brad. Click.

It's OK Underhill keeps preaching it too. Those kind of suggestions kinda makes it hard to take said person's opinion seriously. At least you retracted the trade

I really didn’t like signing Berts but he proved me wrong in the PO’s. Plays with an edge & that was much needed. Domi also played with fire & luved it when in Marchands face. He found his niche.

I don't think it would involve Marner. Parayko was rumoured to 'maybe' be available around the deadline ..if true then it's probably the Blues looking to re-set by selling off some vets for prospects/picks.

Leafs have ~17M to spend ...they can afford Parayko in the Cap and still add some other modest pieces if they went that route.

Maybe the wait for July 1 to see if Pesce, Skjei, Montour, etc ...hit the market. Or maybe they don't like waiting and go out and grab a guy like Parayko (if available).

Honestly I don't think Marner will allow a trade, and if he does likely will test FA to bleed every penny in his new contract. So I would retain 50% if it meant a significant increase in assets. Reset for 2025 with said assets and cap space to trade for a younger top D.

Tre did ok but I think Domi is the only guy he signed who might stay (besides Reaves who’s signed for two more years). I have a feeling that Max might want to finish his career as a Leaf and would sign for $3.5M or something. Edmundson and Boosh are great for what we’re paying (big $ retained) but will likely be too much/not worth it in the free agent market.

I’m much more interested in seeing how much it will cost to extend McCabe. We’re paying $2M of his $4.

I’d also get into the Broissoit bidding. If he’s at all affordable, I’d pick him up. There are also some interesting possible Bertuzzi replacements coming up this year - DeBrusk is one.
