Who gives a (frank) about the fans and being angry.
They'll cool off in a few weeks. Come October, they'll be cheering again.
If Marner agrees to waive, great, move him. If he doesn't. He stays and plays out his contract or gets extended.
We want blood, understandable. So fire the whole coaching staff

- Fakepartofme

Do you work for MLSE or something?

Marner would have a brutal ride in blue and white if he stays.

He is Uber talented, he should be able to figure it out like every other player like him.

Kane was a playoff hero.

- Santo_44

Kane always drives the net fearlessly. Mitch Marner is no Pat Kane.

He didn’t really.

He was just confident in his abilities and didn’t get bothered by the moment.

He scored a cup winning goal from the goal line 15 feet out ffs.

and lol okay I don’t agree, I think the fans get nasty.

Mitch couldn’t handle this fanbases when the majority of the fanbase loved him.

You can think what you want, I think fans and media will be nasty on him.

If the core 4 is here, Mitch Marner will not have a good time.

- Santo_44

Well its up to marner at the end of the day.
He'll have to waive.
Fans are stupid, so i have no doubt some will blame him for the weather and say stupid things.
But fans also have short term memory, if he excels next year, most will forget/forgive.
The only caveat is if he has another off year, then it would get nastier.

Yeah, actually, he did, all the time. Kane attacked the netfront area with speed fearlessly. There is no speed to Marners playoff game. Zilch.

I’m not saying fans aren’t stupid.

I will not be playing part of the nasty ones that’s for sure.

Oh (frank) off sayind the fans will forget where have you been the last 5 years? Under a rock?

Elliot Friedman said this morning is likely Marner and that the core 4 days are over.

Even a 4 year old could see that it’s Marner even if he didn’t name names.

So I’m going off based on that.

Not what Drexel says. I fear a 4 year old might know more.

- Santo_44

Get over your shtick

If you think that Marner is going to stay after the fans AND management wants him gone I think you are out to lunch.

If management wants to keep him yeah I can see him wanting to stay.

But he is in for a tough year. When Willy was moved off PP1 for other guys it won’t be him now, it will be Marner.

He won’t be put in positions to succeed and the fans will hate him.

- Santo_44

Unless management says to him "give us 10 teams you'd accept a trade to" he's not going anywhere even if us FANS want him moved.

Just to be clear, was 85 points in 68 games an off year or are we just talking about another "no show" in the playoffs?

The decision about him, for the Leafs at least, cannot wait for him to fail again in the playoffs and see him walk away for nothing. That would be catastrophic.

Gosh I sure hope that doesn't happen.

Maybe, maybe not.
If he stays and comes out flying next season, people would move on.
Its only really bad now cause its so fresh.

But ive been saying for years, this core 4 doesn't have what it takes to win, so hopefully we do see changes.
We will see.

EF on Domi and Bert

Bert-says both parties wanted a long term deal last summer but opted for 1 year. Bert enjoyed his time here and leafs want him back. Thinks there is a path to a deal.

Domi-really wants to be back, would be shocked if he isn’t.

Also speculated about Seth Jones.

I’m just saying man.

You think Kane was some sort of tough drive the net player, he was not at all.

Marner could be Kane tomorrow in playoffs, he just doesn’t have the brain to not let the spotlight bother him.

Ya he still got points, but he had so many head scratching plays.
Anywho, lots of time between now and October, we'll see how it plays out.
I just hope the whole coaching staff gets fired

EF (I just listened) said the Core4 days are over (his opinion) ...but it might have to wait until next year (ie. JT) b/c he's not sure what MM and the team will do.

The key leverage for the Leafs (to persuade MM to accept a trade) is the 8th year. No extension from Leafs means Marner would need a trade to get his 8th year.

Management leaking this now is a PR move to take the pressure off over the next week or so so that fans put the pitchforks away. “We’re committed to winning and will fire the coach and run Mitch out of town.”

FFS. I'm saying he wasn't afraid to go into contested ice with speed. He wasn't afraid of taking contact the way Mitch is. Marners playoff game slows to a crawl, as he stop and curls over and over, east west.. Kane did everything faster than Marner does, and in traffic. Kane far more north south than Mitch.

His weak mentality is not liking big angry opposition players who might hit him.😉

Boom. Facts matter. The 8th year is key. If there’s a team where he’s ready to commit for 8 years, a trade can happen. The other scenario is if there’s a spot where he can have a better season than in Toronto before he hits free agency.
