I think there may be cheaper options that provide the same as bert - Fakepartofme
Agreed
I think Bert wants long term contract and money. I don't feel comfortable giving out term to him.

So the injury info we got ...
Marner - nothing.
Nylander - got hit last game and got a migraine ...might have been related to concussion ...couldn't see properly when he gets migraine.
Matthews - got sick after game 2 ...wasn't feeling well but played game 3 ...took that hit (I assume the collision with 88) and got injured. Didn't want to talk about injury but concussion seems likely.
...and everybody loves Mitch. So much love.
Rielly took responsiblity on the winner. Hard not to respect him ...wish he would play better but (frank) you want to cheer for him. |

We were all uneasy about giving term to Hyman as well, that has aged pretty well for not us.
At some point, if we want to keep good players and there's an avenue to do it, we need to take the risk.
I'm not desperate to keep Bertuzzi but also I'm positive I've seen at least 90% of the posters on this site allude to needing a top six winger with an edge pre Bert. Sounds like a guy we should keep if there's an opportunity to do it. |

I don't fault Rielly for any of this. He was one of the best Leafs players last playoffs and always gives 100%. Let's be honest, on many teams he is not a #1 and he's being asked to be Hedman for the Leafs.
I don't blame JT either. Yes, he's waaaay overpaid, but he's not slacking out there.
The blame falls much higher up the food chain, starting with Keefe.
Keefe is consistently outcoached in the playoffs or fails to make the correct adjustments. He is also failing to deploy his players correctly and properly motivate them. A good coach should be able to squeeze blood from a rock, even a reluctant rock.
Keefe could be the nicest and smartest guy in the world away from the ice, but he needs to go. And if somebody higher up is saving his bacon, then they need to go also. And fire the fool who put Boucher on the PP.

Mitchy isn’t going anywhere.
So all you haters can (frank) all the way off.
William Nylander on Mitch Marner:
“He’s an incredible human being, friend. Love the guy. Look, there’s always someone taking heat here regardless of how it’s going. But we love him.” |

Management change coming this summer.
Mitch signs an extension for 12.5 sometime in February 2025.
Things might seem bleak rn, but with the coaching change things will be a lot different.
Guy Boucher and Sheldon Keefe are awful coaches and had no business being behind the Leafs bench.
Woll asserts himself as #1G. Rielly might be gone.

Weird - Fakepartofme
They’re praising him because they know more than you.
Mitch is as big of a part of this team as anyone.
Not you so much fake, but the hate towards Mitch has been going on for years, and none of it was warranted.
So you’re all gonna have to cope with the fact that he will be re-signed.
I suggest the haters find a new team to cheer for. |

Woll is injured too often. Hes not number 1 material just, not reliable enough imo.
Mitch at 12.5m per year?
(frank) that.
He signs for what willie signed for, nothing more.
If he wants to win fans over, he extends for 10m per.
Im fine with moving him if he agrees.
Or keeping if cheapish. |

Mitch is incapable of playing physical hockey in the playoffs, you take away his space you take away his talent. Not a cent more than Willy, and even that is too much IMO.
