I have a hard time believing Marner won't try to suck every penny out of the Leafs again.

Trade Matthews or willie (not as much willie) for pasta and they are a different team.
So what.
We know Pasta is clutch and plays a different style.
Trade morgan for Pietrangelo and we are a different team. The list can go on.

Anywho, if marner agrees to waive, he'll be traded. If he doesnt, he wont.

Lol
Such bs. Willie got more here than he would have via free agency
Matthews did as well his first contract, got as much as possible.
Willie got a 1 - 1.5 million more than anyone anticipated up until a week before he signed
So no.
Just like most players do

I disagree man. I for sure believe Matthews could have easily gotten more.

Mo absolutely.

Willy was closer but could have gotten more on the open market.

Agree to disagree my man.

Or keep being butt hurt, up to you.

Have you seen the worshipping that goes on in here concerning Am, willie and marner (up until this year)?

Beef up this defense:

Marner to Saint Louis for Parayko, etc.
Sign Pesce.
Find a goalie to pair with Woll.

Surprising to see a god-like team get eliminated in the 1st round.

This year it was just bad luck on the injury front. Missing Matthews, Nylander and Marner coming back from a high ankle sprain. Then to top it off Woll goes down.

Anyone who says none of that matters needs to rethink.

Willy didn't just come off a 6 year deal he hasn't lived up too, he was actually incredibly underpaid through his previous deal. So big difference there.

Mitchy isn’t going anywhere.

So all you haters can (frank) all the way off.

William Nylander on Mitch Marner:

“He’s an incredible human being, friend. Love the guy. Look, there’s always someone taking heat here regardless of how it’s going. But we love him.”

I think I'll listen to Elliotte Friedman on this one.

If the Leafs sign (and keep) him for 12.5 they are screwed.

1000%, and we'll miss his sick passes and amazing dangles. But for his salary we could sign two, solid D men that'll PREVENT goals so we won't need as much offense. The makeup of this team is out of balance, all offense doesn't work as well in the playoffs. Defense wins championships.
- Whipper

We have tried this. It doesn't work. Our defense isn't as bad as everyone thinks. We held Boston to plenty of low scoring games in round 1 and unless two more dmen are going to help make every game a shut out, it ain't happening.

At this point, it’s about moving one of them out. Mitch is on his last year and Willie was just extended so #16 draws the short straw. Will happen this summer or next.
- Canada Cup

Only way I can see Mitch staying is if he tells management to "give me 4mil. and I'll stay".

imo Woll the the biggest impact. he went head to head with Swayman who did not give up a weak goal the whole series. he had 6 quality starts. Woll was able to best him in 2 starts

Samsonov was decent in gm 7, but he needed to be better than swayman..who was the best goalie in rd1

He's a pretty well spoken guy and I agree.

I wish they had asked him WHY he thought the special teams struggled. They asked generally but nobody asked him for a detailed opinion of what went wrong.

- The Law

Me too. I think he expected to get into it in detail, but relieved he didn’t have to.
Special teams lost this series. As simple as that.
