I thought about that but now I think I was stupid for it.

Don’t think trading for Saros is a good idea for any team. Price tag is far too high.

- Santo_44

Well, its expensive for the regular season but when you reach the playoffs what good is Marner anyways?

He needs to go. Maybe then trading for a defenseman like Morrissey for Marner.

Toronto needs a change like that.

Marner's gotta go.

Marner for Pietroangelo is making the rounds, which I don't hate if he ages well.

Saros and forsberg sure.
:😜

- Fakepartofme

What do you think a player is worth that disappears in the playoffs?

1 goal and 3 points in the playoffs. Teams aren't dumb, its gonna hurt his value but its for the greater good.

Marner is taking a lot of heat (he deserves it). Maybe he approves a trade. That would go a long way to get some pieces. Im not rubbing it in, but the leafs could really use a Hyman type of player. Maybe you can add Kane, I read somewhere that he’s not going back to Detroit. If the Leafs can add a couple players like these and shore up their back end a bit, that could be the difference maker.
- doon

No thanks to Kane, as to Hyman, I was sorry the Leafs lost him, however they do have Matthew Knies who is 21, while Hyman is 31. There will be some changes and I can see the Leafs adding some grit.

Marner is 27 and Pietroangelo is 34.

Gotta be age 26-29 for it to make sense.

Saros hasn’t been good in playoffs either.

Saros is going to get 9-10 million on the open market. He needs to be a difference maker in playoffs which he hasn’t either.

Won’t be be 35 next year? I think that’s pretty bad.

I think the leafs have to use marners money in FA.

Unless Werenski is available and Marner wants to go there I don’t see a single one for one that makes sense.

Utah makes so much sense.

They have a top 6 pick that will probably fall in the 5-7 range.

They have Crouse.

Keller.

They are a team that will have no attachment to any player with the relocation. There’s an opportunity there.

What do you think a team is worth that hasn't made the playoffs in 13 seasons? You know a team that has drafted in the top ten 9 times in the past 13 seasons including two first overall picks and 2 second overall picks but is still a giant bag of poop? Must be a pretty (frank)en dumb team

Either way leafs are missing that Anchor on the back end. Can eat up big minutes and is physical.

Well, all signs are that AP's not slowing down and our window is closing quickly.

Marner's window isn't really a factor at all, because he's gone with this deal obviously.

Marner has a NMC, he has to agree to a trade. Unlikely he would agree to a trade, sitting him would only hurt the team and his value if they could move him at the trade deadline next season. Pesce and Montour would be great adds, however, they are most likely to re-sign with their current teams IMO. Tavares is not going anywhere, Leafs will have to settle for his point a game production next season.
- winsix

You are missing the detail about sitting you. Either accept a trade, or this is going to be a very embarrassing and ugly finish to your time in Toronto. You will be a healthy scratch. We don't care anymore. I mean if JT wants to earn another contract, he is better off playing 82 games on Chicago's top line versus being a healthy scratch in Toronto. The organization has to be committed to that plan. That's the only way to move those two losers.

Huh? Why not?

Salt Lake City is a great city.

The new franchise is exciting.

Team won’t be afraid to spend, Marner will like that.

What’s not to like?

Yeah, I'm not sold on AP, but am 110% behind Marner for a true 1RHD, however that comes (FA, trade).

We do have a lot of capspace coming off the books this year, but the FA crop doesn't look great at all. Next year, looks really good (so far).

Name one instance in the history of the cap era where any team has done this? He's not likely to be moved. If it happens, it would be a trade deadline deal IMO.

There’s really nothing out there for D trades

I like the UFA crop, good players but not superstars that will be way overpaid.
