Too much heat for Mitch to stay. If you think Murphy and Holl had it bad, just watch next year if Marner is still on the team. It won't be just the fans, but the press will whip up a howling mob to run Marner out of town. Best to start the auction soon, after July 1st. |

Why? There would be other parts moving in that trade. Lou is getting an endorsement to stay next year, from ownership. Lou drafted Marner. Lou also said that some of the older 4th line vets are probably not going to be re-signed. Islanders are in need of a forward that can put up 90 points. Roy already has hung Sorokin out to dry. He's available. Islanders have a number of good defensemen. If Lou wants Marner, Dobson needs to be coming the other way. Leafs may have to retain, in the last year of Marner's contract. Someone like McMann and or Liljegren may be part of a bigger trade. Leafs can retool this team by making such a deal Young defenseman with great numbers and is 6'3". He would be the best option out there, if they were to move Marner. - PrinceLH
You think trading the 2nd best winger on the team for a 24 year old bonafide right handed top pairing D is a legit trade proposal? Other parts........my ass. Unless other parts include Knies, a 1st round pick.......... |

Letting him twist esp as he’s a goner. Do the guy a solid and just whack him now… - dozerD10 They did Keefe a favor, a year ago by giving him a golden parachute extension. It was always in the cards that if the Leaf continued to sh!t the bed, Keefe would be the sacrificial lamb, after this season. Last year, they sacrificed Dubas, now it's Keefe who falls on his sword. He gets a year or two of money, until he signs in Pittsburgh in a few weeks.

There's going to be a purge of veteran forwards, according to Lou yesterday. Clutterbuck and Martin are not going to be retained and denied an extension. Islanders already have a mediocre forwards group. Their strength is the back end. Leafs can trade them a first line all star forward and a couple of 3rd liners to make such a deal work.

Dobson scored 70 points as a Dman, they might trade for Marner but there's no way in hell Dobson is part of the deal unless the Leafs add substantially.
Dobson is at a more premier position, makes $4M and is an RFA at the end of this deal. He's also better at hockey.
You labeled Knies untouchable. If you had Dobson on your team you would outright laugh at any trade proposals.......especially for a scared winger that costs 2.5 times as much for the next year with no team control. |

Not surprised by your take. Literally every time Ive advocated for change over the past six years, you've pumped the breaks HARD. - fifty__missions
If your change is to put Pelley in charge of hockey decisions then yeah I pump the breaks. I can get behind replacing Shanahan with another actual hockey guy, but Pelley is just a suit. |

If traded it will be after his bonus has been paid and his salary during the season will the league minimal. |

For all the reasons we want to move on from Marner the Isle will not trade Dobson for him. The only thing that makes sense is Lou would not have to worry about Marner growing any facial hair.

Hronek is an RFA. - Nighthawk
I assumed he was at that age he'd be UFA eligible, had a feeling I should have looked it up. Thanks for confirming.
Good offer sheet candidate. 👀 |

What about a guy like Vigneault as coach? He has his shortcomings for sure but he's mostly had success. He's 62 so getting a little long in the tooth. - golfingsince
