Teams play different based on game situations. The Rangers allowed 3 shot attempts after "turtling" and allowing the 3rd goal. One was missed to the far side that was close but not that close by Svechnikov. A shot by Svechnikov was then gloved my Shesty even though it was probably headed high and wide. That was at the one minute mark. The last attempt was a weak wrist shot that was sticked to the corner by Igor. - climbdenali12
There’s no doubt they sat back in the 3rd which wasn’t very fun to sit through lol the Panarin goal was one of the happier moments of the season, for me anyway. Even when Panarin is quiet for a whole game he has that ability to raise the roof in a split second

Yep that was my point. I thought the rangers played well and based on game situations (having the lead and lop-sided PP time) led to some things that are likely exacerbated on the charts. Doesn't make the charts useless but is important context.
They held the Canes to 15 SOG with 7 minutes left, and up until the end the Canes were in danger of not reaching their season-low of 19 SOG. - SkjeiStadium
I just can't believe Hurricanes had the puck when they pulled the goalie, man that never happens

Tony's one of the most level headed people on this board. Everyone you have a mild disagreement with isn't a clown - SkjeiStadium
I used to agree. Ever since he became Tom’s defender he’s turned into a clown. I didn’t say anything to start a fight or cause a reaction, just a conversation about the 3rd line at some point having to contribute. Never said they played bad, never said they stunk, nothing. Just stated a fact.
What I want/wanted to say is that Jimmy Vesey has been terrible, but I know that would cause a problem in here so I’ve been keeping that one to myself. |

this is the best penalty killing group of players I have ever seen the Rangers have, like 40+ years
Vesey is part of that group

Wtf are you talking about? You become dumber and dumber as time goes on. Defending Tom and his charts has turned u into a real bozo - nyrangers9479
That's it. Start the name calling.
We are 5 and 0 in the playoffs, just put up another great team effort and beat an opponent that we were all nervous about. And your comment was something negative and looking for someone to justify your viewpoint (which is stupid). Don't bother backpedaling by saying you were simply bringing it up. It's not a concern right now and there is no reason to bring it up unless you want to be negative.
You really need to learn how to communicate like an adult.
I don't defend Tom or his charts. I defend your right to shut the fu ck up about them. |

This whole idea that everyone on here is either a "Tom-defender" or "Jimmy-defender" is very annoying but that's all I'll say on the subject...
Rangers are 5-0 to start the playoffs, Igor is in solid form, our best players are playing like our best players and our special teams are cruising. All is good as far as I'm concerned! |

The PK has been incredible from top to bottom. The first couple kills last night I was getting nervous because they were putting the same pressure on the PP as they did last series and Carolina has the guys that can make you pay if you run around. But the PKers were always in the right lanes, made great plays with their sticks and were able to clear the zone every chance they got. It's awesome to watch |

I still don't fully understand the charts but the top one looks pretty good to me, is it not? Obviously not for Fox and Lindgren but a lot more people in the "positive" side of the chart than typical games.
The deserve to win one likely comes from Carolina having 5 PPs to our 2, and our 2 PPs only lasting a combined 23 seconds or so. Not a lot of time to generate chances when you're that efficient. Playing with the lead also tends to draw some desperation from the opponent which we clearly saw in the 3rd. Not a perfect game by any means but I thought the rangers played really well vs a very good oppenent - SkjeiStadium
The top one is a bar graph that factors in invidvual contributions along with how well the individual player played relative to their teammates. Penalty differentail, faceoffs, goals, assists, expected goals for, expected goals against. |

Once again posting a chart that says we should’ve lost, but if u watched the game would’ve thought the complete opposite. Ever since you’ve been back to being a troll ur buddy Tony has been a clown himself - nyrangers9479
You are so (frank)ing stupid.
The chart doesn't say we should have lost. You're a complete moron if that's what you take from it. No wonder they piss you off so much. Try actually reading what the data provides or shut up and move on, loser. |

Watched every second. Hence why I wasn't here and wasn't the one calling Tony a bozo. |

I was screaming to get the puck out, using their glove to push it on that pop up late in the third right before the Jarvis goal. The next play like that, Trocheck does it...but bats it out of play. |

This is Carolina's MO. Lots of possession, lots of shots from everywhere. Give Igor clean looks and don't allow them to go low to high in the open slot and they should be fine. They were penned in late and went into a quasi AV shell after the Necas goal, then after the Panarin goal. |

The 3rd period really weighs heavily in the NST. That's just raw numbers. If you (rhetorical, I know you don't rally care) disagree, then you didn't watch the Rangers turtle trying to hold on. But a win is a win in the playoffs, and that's all that matters. - blacksheep1
I dont think the Rangers turtled. It might be a combination the 5 PP's and of the Canes pulling Anderson with 3 minutes to go and getting extra pressure. Is there anyway to break it down without the PP's and the last three minutes of the game? |

Wasn’t negative at all, just something to talk about. You were looking for it to be negative, but it wasn’t. Saying Vesey hasn’t been good is being negative, but we’ll just leave that one alone. |

Yea I get that part but if I'm reading it right it shows that the Rangers had an overwhelmingly good game (outside of Fox/Lindgren), right? Almost everyone is a net positive and the guys at the top are way in the positive |

I mean they the Canes hit 2 posts in the first. Period. The game is 2 inches away from being 3-3 after 1. The rangers played a better period. The 3rd period: despite Lindgren and Fox having a really bad brain fart, Igor was very good. |

Correct. That is why I post the 3 charts. HST, MP, and NST. Personally I think NST is the best but that is just me opinion. |
