Foerster, Sanheim, York, TK, Peterson and 3 (2024-2026) unprotected 1st round picks for Draisaitl, Ekholm and Campbell. This deal assumes Draisaitl signs longterm with the Flyers. - mickel25
That gives the Flyers a window of what 3 years? Does that mean Leon will still be a beast when he's in his mid-40's?

In the beginning of a rebuild you want to trade 3 1st rd picks and 4 players the flyers need for 2 veterans?

He is only 28. But yeah even getting Draisaitl would not make them much better. Draisaitl and Michkov together would be fun though. - mickel25
The fact is any high priced player late-20's to early 30's is pointless for the Flyers at this stage, especially if they have to give up valuable assets to get them.
Now a McDavid type for free as a UFA would jumpstart the team, but the chances of that is...higher chance of no arguments involving MLJ than that.
If Draisaitl did become available after the playoffs and was willing to come to Philly and sign long term, what do you think a trade would look like? I’ll add that Michkov is untouchable as the point would be to have those 2 play together. - Schmojo

Consider that EDM is trying to win now:
- Sanheim < Ekholm
- TK <<<<<< Drai
- York and Foerster are nice but not nice enough to offset the above
- The 1sts they could trade for immediate help, but why wouldn't they just do that thru more of a hockey trade for Drai?
- Getting rid of Campbell is probably the most attractive part of the deal

And in 2017.
Flyers get good luck... it's just usually followed by multiple instances of bad luck.

Exactly, it's what follows that scares me...unless they get the REAL good luck where the league sets up the draft so the Flyers win #1 and it's one of the best players to come in the league in 20+ years. I want some of that luck.

Draisaitl has a NMC I’m assuming? What reason does he have to want to come here right now? Also what do the Flyers have to offer that’s better than anyone else.
If it’s up to me I’m shopping TK for an overpay in pick and/or controllable prospects, which is what Fletch should have done with Coots honestly. This front office has a long standing habit of doing the exact opposite of what I’d do though and it’s worked out wonderfully for them lol

The best thing the Flyers could do is follow Dallas. Draft and hope for some higher than expected impact from players in early rounds.
Buying and trading for solutions always end up terrible.

I agree. The assets I listed are probably the most attractive the Flyers have (if Michkov is not part of the equation) and they still would not even be close to making this trade happen.

Whatever they do they should be eyeing building around Michkov, which to me, means stay away from anyone older than 27 right now. Leon D will be 29 this year. Even if it were possible… no, thanks.
