The Flyers are like a contractor you hire to build you a beautiful house. Its looks great at first, but because they cheap out on the materials to pocket more money, the house starts to fall apart way sooner than it should. Then they do a patch job using the same cheap materials. Hide the cracks with some paint, etc etc etc. They end up spending more money than if they just bit the bullet and built it the right way to begin with. - MBFlyerfan
It's interesting that there are fans who think the current Flyers methods can be successful. They've been doing it forever and it's 14 years since this team was truly relevant in the league. Yet those fans say they're not willing to sit through a true rebuild which could take 5 years or longer? They're unwilling to give up all the success this team has had in the past 14 years. Unable to recognize that if the Flyers don't drastically change, it will only lengthen the time it could take.

Maybe we should adopt the Sabres plan? How about Ottawa? Arizona? Montreal? Maybe NJ? Even Toronto? Creating a loosing culture doesn’t breed success. Let us know tho |

Was wondering what your thoughts are on ole Mitch? Does he get dealt? The rumour is he's looking for 8 yrs 12 mil AAV. I think the popular opinion in leafs land right now is that he's the odd man out. I've thought about what it would take to get him but that contract demand is insane. Also, i doubt we're a team he'd want to go to in trade waving his NTC - Hextall271
Fire Keefe and find a way to get rid of JT. Seems pretty obvious to me.
Leafs fans are so dumb for going after Marner. Guy loves being there and works his ass off. |

Did anyone see Button's mock after the lottery?
He says Demidov is better than Michkov and says the Flyers will pick Jett Luchanko at #12.
Button really hates the Flyers. - MBFlyerfan

I do not envision JT agreeing to leave Toronto.

There are obviously some things wrong in Toronto but Marner is not one of them.

Well JT is as good as gone after this year I believe. Simple fact is that they haven't been able to progress with this group. I don't think willie or Matthews are going anywhere so that's why I wouldn't be shocked to see Marner dealt say at the draft. I don't think they just change the coach and go with the status quo. |

He won't go until the contract is up at the end of next year. |

cliff simple question for you. Can a team trade the better player and still end up as a better team?
Tell the board what is obviously wrong. What would you do to correct it? Seems a simple enough question. |

I get what your saying.
I think this is a big offseason. Do you purge players? Gather picks and prospects. Do you make these moves knowing full well their will be a regression, which helps get you a top pick in 2025?
I need to see what happens this offseason in actions and not just words. One thing I find interesting is there doesn't seem to be a lot of talk about a possible TK deal. Could it be nothing. Sure. But maybe they are looking at the big picture.
Again I get what your saying but I want to see Briere with another draft. I think we could see more moves at this one compared to last.

Probably more willing than Marner to waive the NMC. Maybe the nuclear option to buy him out is on the table too, who knows. |

The Leafs are JT's first love. A buyout makes sense if he refuses to be traded. It would save the Leafs over $7mil against the cap.

A buyout with Taveras is really not an option due to how his contract is structured with most of the money as a signing bonus.

No, it wouldn't. A buyout out of Taveras would only save the Leafs 600K on the cap for next season. |

Yikes, so a $10.3M hit for 24-25 and a $300k hit for a 25-26. Nvm. |

I don't see Marner, Matthew, Tavares or Nylander going anywhere.
I think they look to upgrade the goaltending and the defense. Try to build around the edges with the forwards.
Honestly a low maintance guy like Laughton would be a nice pick up for them. Plays all around the lineup. Plays in all situations. Can put him on that 3rd line. Just not sure who TOR would move to make it work

That's the big deal with contract structure that many don't realize. Not only does it give you a big chunk of change on the negotiated date. It makes a deal buyout proof if there is enough of it and at the right years. Signing bonus money is eliminated from the buyout. It's just the base salary that can be bought out. If you look at the Taveras deal. It was a 7 year deal for 77M yet the highest base salary he has is 910K for any one year. It's all signing bonus money and his contract is buyout proof.

Look at the last column, his cap hit next season would still be over 10 million.

Surely you can think of one example...
Because I can think of quite a few examples of supremely talented players who played for some of the best coaches in NHL history and even they couldn't help those players learn to give enough (frank)s to come anywhere close to their potential. - Tomahawk

How many years does Marner want for his next contract, Friedman says 8. Toronto can play hardball and tell him he is not getting it to try to force a trade. He also said Marner's agent won't do any contract negotiations until his current contract is up.

And you are totally against tanking to get us the elite talent in the draft. So what is your plan to get the flyers where they need to be?
